What We Do

Educated Cooking was set up by Eleanor Watkins in order to share her love, passion and knowledge of cooking with others. The cookery courses are based in her newly renovated, standalone kitchen in Byfleet, Surrey.

The courses either focuses on certain techniques or types of cuisine, and everyone will be able to join in and have fun. The goal is for you to walk away with new techniques in your arsenal that you can use on a daily basis to make cooking easier, more fun, and delicious.

The courses change on a monthly schedule, but there will be a beginners knife skills class every month and ‘family dinner series’ courses every month.

The theme for the family dinner series will vary every month, but will focus on teaching you meals that are easy to re-create on a hectic weeknight for your whole family.

We will also be running longer courses to test new techniques and elevate your cuisine for the times you want to create special dishes.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to cook something specific, contact Eleanor to create a bespoke class that she can either run in her kitchen in Byfleet, or in your home. You will need a minimum of 4 people to create a bespoke class.

About Eleanor Watkins, Chef/Owner of Educated Cooking, Byfleet

In addition to running cookery courses in Byfleet, Eleanor is also able to cater for your private dinner parties based in Surrey/London. Her style of food is international and eclectic taking traditional European or American dishes and putting her own spin on them. The philosophy of Educated Cooking is to always put deliciousness at the forefront of the dish.

Eleanor comes from a unique and varied food background. She grew up in the United States and worked as a chef award winning restaurant before moving to the U.K. six years ago to pursue an MSc in Food Science.

In addition to her MSc she holds a BSc in Nutrition and uses these scientific backgrounds to shape how she cooks food. However, don’t expect to come to a cooking course for a science lesson. Instead, Eleanor will sprinkle a little bit of nutrition and food science knowledge in her courses so you can better understand how and why certain culinary techniques create the most delicious meals.
