Brooklands College’s NHS 101 Fundraiser Challenge Boosts Morale
Across the recent months, students and staff at Brooklands College have been participating in a fundraising project called The 101 Challenge
The fundraiser started on 19th January 2021, they have been aiming to walk 101 miles each in 101 days to raise money for NHS Charities Together. 12pm, 9th March 2021 marks the halfway point of this project and the college has benefited greatly from the progress made so far.
The mental health of students has been a national concern during the pandemic with remote learning and long periods of reduced social interaction. This fundraising project has had a positive impact on learners at Brooklands College as well as their staff members, the act of doing a united project despite being apart has lifted the overall morale and created a sense of togetherness throughout.
“I really like this challenge it has helped me a lot and is keeping me motivated during this tough time. I started doing The 101 Challenge and I didn’t really think about the miles, I just wanted to raise awareness and tell everyone that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it.” – Samuel Iles, Sport student.
Since launching the project, Brooklands College has exceeded their original £500 fundraising target and have now raised over £650 for the NHS. Having amassed an impressive collective total of 3,500 miles so far, students and staff intend to continue their good achievements and carry on walking up to the ‘finish line’ date of 30th April 2021.
