About Our Guest Musicians: Quilta
This exciting London-based group brings together English secular song from both Elizabethan ages, celebrating the English lyric in ayres, serenades, poems and dances. The individual members of the group are all specialists in Renaissance, folk and improvising traditions and combine these elements in a unique and stimulating style.
The rich Elizabethan song tradition is central to the group’s repertoire, and for this anniversary concert several original Shakespeare settings will feature, as well as other songs of both Elizabethan eras and music by John Dowland, Nick Drake and many more.
We can expect a highly varied and entertaining programme. Do join us.
About Music On The Green
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher – a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed. Whilst having our firmest foot planted at the classical end of the spectrum, we seek to offer a rich and varied listening programme.
