What’s On / Community > Local Choirs – Walton Voices

Walton Voices Choir
Thank you for your interest in Walton Voices. We welcome new members throughout the year. We perform three major concerts a year and several smaller events for local and national charities. We are under the direction of Jonathan Kilhams who has brought our community aspect to the fore and we regularly find ourselves doing workshops with schools, singing in nursing homes and being a choir for the community.

Important Update – Coronavirus – COVID 19
Although we have had to suspend our face to face rehearsals and performances for the time being, lockdown hasn’t stopped us making music together! We have been meeting and rehearsing online every week.
Following the success of our first virtual performance ( “If ye love me” – that you can also see on this page) We are very pleased and proud to share with you our 2nd virtual project. Here we are performing Ola Gjeilo’s beautiful ‘Ubi Caritas’ with our wonderful accompanist Hannah Stanley soloing and our Musical Director, Johnny Kilhams conducting us.
We have chosen Mind as our charity for this performance because mental health matters. Mind are inundated at the moment so every penny will go an extremely long way. Here is our sponsorship page:

Do you enjoy singing?
We are looking for new singers who want to:
- Learn new music
- Improve their singing technique
- Meet new people in a friendly, sociable atmosphere
There is no need to audition, but the ability to read music would be an advantage.
We are a local group with a long history. First established in 1934 as the Walton and Oatlands Choral Society, we have adapting to a new age and re-established ourselves as a choir for the community.
As well as preparing for our own concerts, we offer our services for local events. We support the Princess Alice Hospice, are associated with a local school, and have been patronned by the Mayor of Elmbridge.
Walton Voices are proud to welcome singers from all backgrounds regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, relationship status, disability, religious beliefs or financial standing. We don’t have a formal audition procedure, all we ask is that you have a love for singing and give us a go.
Our rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings 7.45pm-10pm at Bell Farm Primary School, Hersham Road, Hersham, Walton-on-Thames KT12 5NB.
There is also a termly programme of social events open to all members.
Do come and join us!
