New Chair for Princess Alice Hospice Charity Esher Elmbridge Surrey
Princess Alice Hospice is delighted to announce that Sally Harris was appointed as their new Chair on Wednesday 9 October 2024.
Sally’s predecessor, Professor Sean Hilton, was thanked at this week’s Annual General Meeting for his 12 years of dedicated service as a trustee and, more recently, as Chair of Princess Alice Hospice.
Sally brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to the role. She began her career in retail finance and worked with the Arcadia Group for 13 years, where she became Finance Director for brands within the organisation, before moving to Marks & Spencer in 2012.
Following the birth of her daughter, Sally re-trained as an executive coach. Alongside her career, Sally started as a trustee and co-chair for the Fertility Network, before becoming a trustee for RNID, where she has been part of their transformational strategy that’s seen them move from providing care homes to focusing on social change. Sally also brings her passion for fashion to a trustee role at the Fashion Retail Academy.

Sally said: ‘Community’s really important to me, my values really match those at Princess Alice and it is a privilege to continue the fantastic work done by Sean and play my part in the incredible work done here.’
Nigel Seymour, Chief Executive, said: ‘I’m extremely grateful to Sean for his service and for ensuring there has been a smooth transition for Sally, who has been immersing herself in all things Princess Alice over the summer. Sally joins us at an exciting time and I look forward to seeing how her professional experience and personal qualities become embedded within the organisation. We have challenges to face and an ever-changing healthcare system to work within, but we know this next stage brings many opportunities. We are an organisation full of brilliant people who are dedicated to reaching more people in underserved communities and reducing the level of unmet need in our care area.’’

Princess Alice Hospice: For Excellence. For Compassion. For People. For Living.
For almost 40 years, Princess Alice Hospice has provided free, high-quality, specialist end of life care to tens of thousands of people across a large part of Surrey, south west London and Middlesex. Today, at any one time, Hospice nurses, doctors and other specialist staff are looking after more than 1000 people in need.
The Hospice’s mission is to reach out to even more people by delivering outstanding care to those who need it. To enable us to do this, we must rely on the commitment and support of our communities who help us to raise vital funds.
£10 million is needed each year to provide our vital services. Core NHS funding represents circa 20% of our expenditure on charitable activities. Most of the balance is raised through legacies, fundraising, dedicated shop units, investments and the generous support of our communities. It is only the support of our community and beyond that makes it possible to do our work.
