Request For Volunteers at Oxfam’s Weybridge & Other Charity Shops
Oxfam shops usually offer several volunteer placements and work experience positions to job seekers or those looking to gain CV skills.
It works brilliantly – our shops have mixed teams and are very diverse and are lovely, supportive environments.
The volunteers gain transferable work experience, soft skills and confidence.
We can also offer supervisory level volunteer positions to those with some experience and willing to undertake training.
For Oxfam, the gain is huge. Our shops are vital for our programme work. I calculated recently that volunteering for a 4 hour shift in one of our Central London shops on average raised enough money to provide handwashing facilities for over 150 people.
As you can imagine at the moment, our programme work is stretched reacting to Covid in places where sanitation is non-existent. The shop funds raised are more needed than ever, but our volunteer teams are reduced at the moment.
Can you volunteer with Oxfam?
Even if you can only offer a few weeks at this strange time. You would be made very welcome, and it would make such a difference to us, but you’d also genuinely get a great deal from the experience too. It’s a bit of an odd time to join as with all the PPE and safety measures in place, but the shops are as safe as possible.
Volunteers can work on the till, help out with admin or back of house –what they actually do can be really flexible depending on what experience they’re looking for, and we will happily provide a reference at the end.
Maybe you have a friend you’d like to volunteer with?
Volunteering Together Can Be Twice The Fun!
