The launch was held at Burview Hall, Walton on Thames, a purpose built, comprehensively equipped building, owned by Walton Charity, and run by Elmbridge Mencap.
Elmbridge Mencap is a local charity focused on supporting children and adults with learning disabilities as well as their parents and carers. This support is delivered by way of leisure activities, social clubs, family fun days, film nights and other activities, including use of the sensory rooms, at Burview Hall.
The Mayor said “In my Mayoral year, I aim to help Elmbridge Mencap increase their specialist facilities for the benefit of more people in the Borough by developing a piece of derelict land into a Sensory Garden, to provide a wonderful outdoor experience for children, adults and the elderly, including those with autism, dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease as well as those with learning disabilities”
