Dear MOTG fans

Our first live Music on the Green lunchtime concert of 2021 will be taking place on Wednesday 19 May, at 1.15pm, at Christ Church.

The Fibonacci Quartet, offering a programme of Mozart and Mendelssohn, brings together budding Swedish, Belgian, Czech and Montenegrin string players who last year won both the Beethoven Competition for Young Musicians and the Saint James Chamber Music Competition.

More information about the quartet and photo below.

About Fibonacci String Quartet

The Fibonacci String Quartet was formed in September 2019 and consists of students of David Takeno (Eugène Ysaÿe International Chair of Violin) and Louise Hopkins at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

It is an international ensemble, bringing together Czech, Belgian, Swedish and Montenegrin nationalities.

The quartet is coached and mentored by Krysia Osostowicz, a renowned violinist and chamber musician who holds positions as both first violinistof the Dante String Quartet and principal violinist of the Endymion Ensemble.

Since their formation, the members of Fibonacci have participated in numerous masterclasses and projects with prestigious mentors including Adrian Brendel, as well as with the Gould Piano Trio, the Endellion, Bozzini and Castalian Quartets and members of the Chilingirian Quartet.

In March 2020 they won both First Prize and Audience Prize at the Beethoven Competition for Young Musicians in London, competing against international musicians up to 26 years in age, and later that same month they also won First Prize in the St James Chamber Music Competition at the Guildhall.

The ensemble is building up a solid repertoire which already includes works by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich, and last December they were accepted into the Netherlands String Quartet Academy, which they combine with their continuing studies in London.

The Fibonacci Quartet is supported by the Talent Unlimited Foundation and has been invited to be a part of ‘le Dimore del Quartetto’, a pan-European network creating performing opportunities for young string quartets in historic venues.

About Music On The Green

MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher – a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.

MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed. Whilst having our firmest foot planted at the classical end of the spectrum, we seek to offer a rich and varied listening programme.
