The Genesis Legacy is a unique show among the other regular Genesis tribute bands that chooses to celebrate the musicians surrounding the iconic band rather than Genesis itself.
Formed in 1967, the band’s name has become one of the most recognisable brands in the music world. While members Mike Rutherford, Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips and Tony Banks haven’t had as illustrious commercial careers themselves, their involvement in Genesis made household names out of it’s most famous sons: Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel.
Alongside the biggest hits of Genesis, Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel, The Genesis Legacy’s show includes hits from Mike Rutherford’s Mike and the Mechanics and Steve Hackett’s solo career – providing an evening of entertainment that appeals to general music loves alongside die-hard fans of the music.
Featuring 6 world class musicians, The Genesis Legacy re-produces the iconic recordings with an unparalleled accuracy with so much love and attention being paid to the sounds as well as the music.
Fronting the band is Phil Collins tribute Chris Hayward, who won the coveted “National Tribute Band Award” in 2016 for his “Phil Collins” – and it’s a title he wears well. Chris has the mannerisms and unmistakable sound of Phil down to a tee and the band delivers their unique show as if the world postulated the question: “what would happen if Genesis performed the music from your solo careers too?”
The Genesis Legacy, in conjunction with Julian Lewry Music and Farnecombe Music Club , bring their wonderful show to St James’ Church in Weybridge on the 11th May.

About Music At St James’
We promote musical events which take place in either the church itself, or the parish centre.
Friday Night Music
Every last Friday of the month except August and December in the Parish Centre, this features a headline (usually local) act together with an hour’s open mic.
There is a cash bar and entry is FREE, and the evening runs 8.00 – 11.00pm.

We promote ticketed gigs with touring artists in the church, in partnership with Julian Lewry Music – see information in Programme section below on this page.
Annual Charity Concert
We run an annual charity concert in memory of our dear friend and supporter, Doug Lipinski.

Open Mic Session – Would You Like To Participate?
At the Friday night music open mic session we invite anyone to sing or play in any genre. The format is usually: open mic session (approx. an hour) then live band/headline act.
Equipment:
PA, two mics and stands, guitar and bass amps are provided for the open mic session – if you need anything else you will need to bring it and do any setting up required as early as possible. If you are interested in being the headline band/act, do get in touch. No requirement to share equipment and PA will be provided.

3rd April 2020: The Doug Lipinski Memorial Charity Concert featuring The Weekend Kings
Classic rock covers and original songs and top guests in this year’s fundraiser for the Runnymede Foodbank and Elmbridge Rentstart – two brilliant local charities.
Come and dance the night away to some of the best classic rock around!
Entry will cost £10 on the night with all of it going to the charities. Note: NOT a last Friday!

24th April 2020: The Higgibillies - Plus Invited Showcase Acts
Return of the only skiffle orchestra in existence (as far as we know!). Infectious renditions of skiffle classics. Plenty of singing along.
