Community Planting Fund is launched to help enhance green spaces in Elmbridge
New Elmbridge Community Planting Fund – Applications Invited
A new community planting fund has been made available to community groups who wish to deliver projects that aim to enhance Elmbridge’s green spaces.
This fund is open to charities, community interest companies, parish councils, voluntary groups, schools, scouting and girl guiding groups, and other not-for-profit organisations. It can be used for a variety of projects including:
- Community gardens
- In-Bloom groups
- New planters/flower troughs
- or any other projects that would contribute to make Elmbridge a green and brighter borough.
The community planting fund only has limited resources as a one-off fund. Applications are currently open until 11 October and will open again from 1 February to 13 March 2020.
Groups can now apply to the community planting fund. Each grant application will be scored and funds of up to a maximum of £5,000 per project will be allocated. Partnership funding is encouraged, but in some cases (i.e. for new groups), it is not essential.
If you are considering applying but would like to discuss your idea with us beforehand, please do not hesitate to contact us. We may be able to support you as follows:
- Support you in developing your ideas and help you decide what is viable
- Discuss how best to deliver your objectives
- Provide advice and guidance
- Help you access other funding sources
Councillor Janet Turner, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said, “This fund is a great opportunity for community groups to take ownership of a project that will have a positive impact on their environment. Green spaces play an important role in our daily life and the physical and mental health benefits residents draw from their local green spaces cannot be underestimated. We encourage you to get in touch to see how we can help you make a difference to your local community and neighbourhood.”
