Light Up Elmbridge Online Arts Festival – 27th November – 6th December 2020
An Invitation to Arts Practitioners, Organisations and Groups To Light Up Elmbridge in a Burst of Creative Energy.
Despite covid-19, the arts community has shown resilience and solidarity with its members, audiences and the families impacted by this crisis by finding new and innovative ways to keep the arts alive and to help people through these strange days.
Many artists have performed from their living rooms, run workshops from their gardens and kept the creative juices flowing. And while it may feel as if the many hours of work and the sleepless nights spent coming up with creative ideas are going to waste, nothing is further from the truth.
The Light Up Elmbridge Online Arts Festival, run in partnership with Elmbridge Borough Council, The R C Sherriff Trust and Riverhouse Arts Centre, is an opportunity for us to highlight the cultural importance of the arts across the Borough, and to celebrate the wealth of talent we have here.
This is an invitation to all Elmbridge organisations, companies and practitioners to participate. We are looking for new and original content – productions/readings/recordings, archive performances, virtual exhibitions, literary submissions – that can be presented as part of an online programme.
Taking place from the 27th November to the 6th December 2020, it also offers the opportunity for content of a seasonal nature.
Riverhouse Arts Centre now has a broadcast quality 3 camera set up capable of streaming performances and is looking to partner with performers and artists that that would like to utilise this technology while adhering to government guidelines on social distancing.
The RC Sherriff Trust has a number of plays by Sherriff that may be of interest to Elmbridge theatre companies; contact Pete Allen pete@rcsherrifftrust.org.uk for more details.
Proposed performances, projects and content should be submitted to arts@rcsherrifftrust.org.uk by 14th September 2020 (this just needs to be your proposed idea)
All content will be hosted centrally on the Riverhouse YouTube Channel as well as on other social media sites and media outlets as appropriate to maximise the reach of the performances.
Proposals should include as much information about your project as possible including whether:
• you want it to happen ‘live’
• you would like to use Riverhouse’s streaming technology
• running time
• links if the ‘project’ is run through your, or another’s, website
We look forward to The Light Up Elmbridge Festival bringing together the Borough’s cultural sector in an exciting and dynamic celebration of music, theatre, dance, the visual and literary arts demonstrating how the arts is one of the most powerful agents of reflection, of recovery and renewal.
