Long Term Athlete Development
Muddy Boots Kids Sport Club is a “multi-skills in sports” development program.
Muddy Boots do not teach sport specific skills in fact quite the opposite as it follows the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model where each child’s stage of development is looked at PHYSICALLY, COGNITIVELY and EMOTIONALLY.
At Muddy Boots, Children are offered the opportunity to learn in a fun environment through informal play.
The main goal is to develop good physical activity habits that will enhance the child’s future participation and motivation in sports.
“My son has enjoyed every class he’s been to at Muddy Boots-Adriane is very knowledgeable, has lots of cool sports equipment and is great with the children.
Muddy Boots is a great way of getting them to run off steam and do exercise but still very much feels like fun, and it’s quickly become a must-do in our weekly calendar!”Debbie
The Importance of Parent’s Participation in Children’s Sports
Parents, when it comes to the impact you have on your child’s sporting experience, do not underestimate your influence.
Children learn from watching others and copying the behaviour they see demonstrated.
It is most often the parent who is the first person to introduce a child to sports, and parental involvement can affect whether a child enjoys the experience or not.
In the photo, you can see Mum Emma taking part at a Muddy Boots class.
Learning The Fundemental Building Blocks
Fundamental of Movement (FoM) such as balance, coordination and agility are introduced along with Fundamental of Movement Skills (FMS) for example, travelling, jumping, sending, receiving and striking.
FoM and FMS at an early stage are the building blocks for the acquisition and development of more specific sports and life skills later in their childhood.
It is really important that children are first introduced to FoM and FMS before being introduced to Sports specific activities.
We use a range of equipment which encourages children’s learning by involving numbers, shapes and colours.
In addition, it facilitates a child’s sense of competence (their capacity to explore their physical world with independence) while creating opportunities for learning and playing.
Children are encouraged to work cooperatively with others through sharing and taking turns.
Adriane has over 10 years experience in sports coaching.
She attended the University of East London where she received a First Class BA(Hons) in Sports Coaching with Early Childhood Studies.
She learned a tremendous amount during her degree and it only enhanced her belief and passion even further – of running a business where children can learn the fun and enjoyment of participating in physical activities.
Adriane has also achieved many sports coaching qualifications.
