Great Weybridge Cake Off Success! – Results & Gallery Of Photos
The Great Cake Off & Artisan Food & Craft Market in April 2017 was a great success, with an amazing 73 entries in the baking competition!
This was a new event organised by Weybridge Town Business Group as one of a number of events in the year to generate community spirit and to support the town centre. The prizes were presented by local TV Celebrity Ruth Langsford, who was also one of the judges.
The other 5 judges were representatives from local food related traders and the WI. Pictured above with Ruth are Gemma Woods (The Kitchen Shop), Dorinda Brittle (Weybridge WI), Robert Navarro (Waitrose) and Jonathan Woodgate (Simply Cakes). The other member of the judges was Chris Bachmann (Bachmanns Patisserie).

Competition Results
There were 3 categories in the competition, Small Bakes, Family Bakes and Celebration Cakes, with separate age groups for children and adults.
The overall prize for Best In Show, chosen by Ruth Langsford was Lucia Clark, for her entry in the Under 12 section. Her winning carrot & chocolate cake can be seen below. She was presented with a baking themed picture kindly donated by Bluebell 33, from the appropriately named Baker Street!

Other prizes included afternoon tea for two at Brooklands Hotel, afternoon tea for two at The Ship Hotel and also at French Fancy’s Tea Salon, gift voucher from Weybridge Kitchen Shop & cookery books.
Some bakers kindly donated their cakes for sale to raise funds for the Great Ormand Street Charity, the beneficiary of this event.
Brooklands Radio kindly provided the PA system and a team of volunteers to keep the public entertained with music. They also interviewed many participants, including stallholders, organisers, Ruth Langsford and other judges. Thanks & congratulations to Gill Eastwood, Sharon Ferrari, Paul Povey and everyone who kindly volunteered to help organise and run this event. It was great to get the community together, have some fun and put smiles on faces!Â
