Walton & Weybridge Regatta
Enjoy a day at the river watching the racing!
Walton & Weybridge Regatta 2022
Saturday 21st May 2022
Our local regatta takes place on Saturday 21st May this year, with races from 8.30am to 6pm. There are usually well over 200 races, some involving local clubs including Walton, Weybridge, Molesey and St George’s College, but the exact details for this year won’t be known until nearer the time. There are also competitors from much further afield who enjoy coming to our event every year.
Walton & Weybridge Regatta is run under British Rowing rules and is organised by local rowing clubs. It is supported by Walton on Thames Trading Alliance and many sponsors (sponsorship opportunities are still available at the time of writing). Spectators are very welcome and the races can be viewed from the river towpath at Walton; there are refreshments near the finish between Felix Road and Sunbury Lane.
The regatta is a local tradition having first been held in 1862.
The photos on this page show some scenes from regattas in recent years and as you can see it’s a great attraction for the public to come along and enjoy, we hope to see you there!
Information For Regatta Spectators
Most of the activity at Walton & Weybridge Regatta centres around the club house of Walton Rowing Club.
The whole course can be viewed from the tow path on the Surrey bank of the River Thames: from the start up-stream of The Anglers and The Swan public houses down to the finish near Walton Rowing Club.
The Regatta Enclosure is on the small area of park at the rear of Miskin’s Wharf just up-stream of Walton Rowing Club. The Regatta Enclosure includes refreshment and bar tents. The view from the Enclosure is straight up the course and spectators have a good view of racing from start to finish.
Sunbury Lane can become very congested, but ample public car parking is available at Cowey Sale on the Surrey bank of the river near Walton Bridge. This is a pleasant two hundred metre walk along the tow path to the start of the regatta.
There is also parking at a small cost at the recreation ground between the start and finish of the regatta.
Please note: Competitors will receive full information and location details with their ‘joining instructions’. The information on this page is intended for spectators only.
