Nursery Facilities At Weybridge
Each room at Monkey Puzzle Weybridge is individually appointed to reflect the particular requirements of each age group from three months to five years old.
Children are moved between rooms based on individual development rather than age.
Under 2′s – Baby / Tweenie Room
Babies (3 months to approximately 16 months) and Tweenies (from approximately 16 months to 2 years) benefit from a bright and open plan room with dedicated areas for non-mobile children. Staff cater for their individual requirements.
Babies are supplied with their own bedding and the temperature is constantly monitored to ensure babies are comfortable at all times. Each baby is encouraged to develop through creative and sensory activities. We have a cosy book area and an exciting multi-sensory play area.
All children receive a hot nutritious meal at lunch time and our dedicated staff team sit with the children to encourage communication and social interaction.
Over 2′s – 3′s Toddler Floor and Pre-School Floor
Both floors are large, bright and spacious. The toddler area has been designed with sensory and creative areas to develop and stimulate the children’s inquisitive minds. Developing their numeracy and literacy skills is facilitated within specific areas.
The room benefits from a creative area for messy play, a home corner, a reading corner and a free play area to allow them to participate in a well-structured day, which helps prepare the pre-schoolers for primary school.
Curriculum at the Nursery
All children at Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries are encouraged to learn through play. Our Curriculum covers all the key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and is designed to meet the needs of each individual child.
We follow the Government Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which sets the standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth up to 5 years of age.
Principles – Four Themes
The principles which guide the work of our Early Years Professionals are grouped into four themes:
A unique child – every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured.
Positive Relationships – children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
Enabling Environments – the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and Development – children develop and learn in different ways and at different times; all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
We operate a 1:4 ratio with our toddlers and a 1:8 ratio with our Pre-school room.
All children receive a hot nutritious meal at lunch time and our dedicated staff team sit with the children to encourage communication and social interaction.
There are three prime areas of learning in which our Early Years Professionals support children to learn and develop. These are:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication and language
- Physical development
Plus four specific areas of learning. These are:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
This person also keeps a detailed Learning Journey of the child’s progress during their time with us.
These records are available to be viewed and discussed at any time by parents, who are always encouraged to add details of their child’s experiences from outside the nursery.
Nutrition
We aim to provide fresh balanced meals to all children at each and every meal or snack time.
A choice of fresh fruit is available at snack times, morning and afternoon. We also cater for all dietary requirements and preferences.
