Do you have some spare time in your week to volunteer? If the answer is yes, you are invited to come to the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices’ Warehouse Recruitment Open Day on Thursday 20th October from 10.30am – 3pm.

Potential volunteers can meet the Hospices’ volunteering mascot, the ‘five a day’ banana, and see how they can help behind the scenes.

Maggie Eames, the warehouse Manager explains: “The warehouse tends to surprise people because of how vast an operation it is and how professionally the sorting process is managed. We are in constant need of volunteers to help us sort through the sacks of donations and get them out to our 16 retail outlets around Surrey. In the run up to Christmas we are on the look-out for even more help as things get busier and we are turning a greater amount of stock around.”

People who are interested are invited to come along to Lansbury Industrial Estate, 102 Lower Guildford Road, Knaphill, Surrey, GU21 2EP. They will have the chance to meet the team in an informal, no obligation open day and see if helping out in the central hub of the retail department is their ‘bag’.

Over two thirds of the workforce across all the departments at Woking & Sam Beare Hospices are volunteers and without the help of these dedicated team members the charity would not be able to function.

For more information about the event or how you can get involved and volunteer with the hospices in another capacity call Volunteer Services Operational Manager Gary Wood on 01483 881750 or email g.wood@wsbhospices.co.uk .
