Old Georgians Junior Hockey Club

Old Georgians Hockey Club, based at St George’s College in Addlestone near Weybridge, runs one of the most successful and fastest-growing junior hockey sections in the country. Welcoming children aged 4 to 16, the club now supports over 300 young players, with dozens of new members joining each season.

Coaching Excellence

The junior section is led by Ian Sloan, Double Olympian and current Premier Division player, alongside David Ames, a three-time Olympian. They’re backed by a dedicated team of experienced and passionate coaches, many of whom are current or former international players.

This professional setup ensures that children receive exceptional coaching in a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment.

Weekly Training Schedule

Junior training runs during the autumn and spring school terms. Sessions take place both midweek and on Sundays, grouped by age and ability:

Older age groups (U10 and above) participate in competitive fixtures, including local leagues and tournaments.

Development Beyond Weekly Training & Fixtures

In addition to regular club sessions, Old Georgians runs the OG NextGen program—a series of camps, specialist clinics, and one-to-one coaching throughout the year. These are open to both members and non-members, offering more tailored opportunities to develop hockey skills in a professional environment.

The club has a clear progression pathway, with many junior players moving into senior teams and even earning county or national selection.
