Last chance to apply for a place with #TeamWSB in the 2017 #LondonMarathon!

The deadline to apply for a charity place is Friday 30th September and we’ll be selecting our Marathon runners around the same time as the general ballot places are announced (mid-October). For more information and to apply, see below.

The Virgin London Marathon

Take part in the biggest fundraising event in the world and help raise money and awareness for your local Hospices.
With 35,000 runners taking part and thousands of spectators lining the iconic route, the atmosphere is second to none at the Virgin London Marathon. It is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet and runners have raised over £500 million for good causes since it began in 1981.

Join Team WSB

Woking & Sam Beare Hospices has 5 guaranteed charity places in the London Marathon. If you are interested in running for us and joining Team WSB, please get in touch with our Challenge Events team for further information.

How to apply for one of our charity places:

Download the application form and return it to us by email or by post to Challenge Events, Woking Hospice, Hill View Road, Woking, Surrey, GU22 7HW before the closing date of Friday 30th September 2016.

Please note the following:

We set the closing date before the ballot results are announced in October to ensure genuine supporters of the Hospices are benefiting from these places. So even if you have entered the ballot and intend to fundraise for the Hospices, why not submit an application to us as well. If you’re lucky enough to get a ballot place after applying for one of ours, don’t worry – it just means that we can offer your place to someone else.

We receive a high number of applications for this popular event but only have 5 places to give away. Submitting your application does not guarantee you a place, you will be notified in October 2016 if you have been successful.

We take each application into great consideration and many factors are taken into account. Therefore please ensure you provide as much information on your form as possible so we can fully understand why you wish to support the Hospices by taking on this iconic marathon.

If successful in your application we ask you to set a fundraising target of £3,000.

Using your own place: If you secure your own ballot place in the marathon, we would still love to have you join the team. You will receive the same fantastic support from our Challenge Events team. There is no suggested fundraising target, but it would be great if you can aim to raise as much as you possibly can. This is a huge challenge to take on and we’re sure that your friends, family, and colleagues will want to support you with your goal!

What to expect: As part of Team WSB our Challenge Events team here at the Hospices is on hand to offer you plenty of support including:

  • Unlimited Fundraising advice & guidance from a dedicated Challenge Events team
  • A Fundraising Guide crammed full of brilliant ideas and useful information
  • Online giving pages such as JustGiving & Virgin Money Giving
  • Free running vest or t-shirt if you choose to fundraise for us
  • 100% satisfaction knowing that you are helping the Hospices to continue to provide palliative care and support to local residents.

Get in touch: To register for this event or for further information please call our Challenge Events Team on 01483 881752 or send an email. You can also download the application form. We can’t wait to get you on board!
