Crazy interior design ideas from around the world
In an era of understated minimalism and cozy Scandinavian style, the heroes of this selection have turned their homes into museums of absurdity. We have studied the strangest design solutions from around the world
Like the Flintstones
American TV host Dick Clark built a real Flintstones house in Malibu. The incredible 250 sq. m. structure looks exactly like the home of the caveman family from the cartoon “The Flintstones.” And it replicates it not only on the outside, but also on the inside: stones and clay are used as decorations, and the shelves and furniture look as if they were carved out of rock. The garden is also styled to look prehistoric: it has cacti, flower beds in the shape of idols, and artificial skulls. This experimental design has made the house famous all over the world.
No corners
Pierre Cardin’s house on the French Riviera can be considered a place of power for those who believe that round objects and smooth lines have a positive effect on a person’s mood. The building was constructed in 1989 from round spheres and elements, which is why it was nicknamed the “bubble house.” Architect Antti Lovag paid special attention to the interior — everything in this unusual house is round: windows, doors, arches, furniture, and a large bed on a pedestal. Almost the entire color palette is used in the interior: the bedroom is decorated in soft blue and light blue tones, the bathroom in warm beige and terracotta, and the living room has bright red armchairs.

Monochrome
Most apartment owners try to create a unified interior style, carefully selecting colors and using neutral shades and pastel tones as a basis. Many, but not the owners of the house in Hillingdon, who decided to decorate the interior of their home entirely in purple.
Furniture and details
Preserved toys. DIY, or “do it yourself,” is a separate category of original and often very strange inventions. Ordinary glass jars, water, and a lot of free time will allow you to create this kind of decor. Lions, hares, and bears preserved in this way must be systematically washed and the water in the “aquarium” changed .
Crazy furniture. A tiger sofa can make for an unforgettable interior. Or a cow, palms, and colorful clouds. Roman designer and upholsterer Rodolfo Rocchetti from Tappezzeria Rodolfo Rocchetti created them from natural fur. His creations resemble real art objects.
Another Italian designer from the Seletti studio came up with a cozy burger armchair. It can be complemented with an original curved street lamp and a banana-shaped lamp.
English designer Stuart Melrose proposes to humanize interior items: his collection includes a nightstand with arms and a headboard cabinet supported by an artificial body. In addition, the collection has very positive colors.
