Weybridge In Bloom – Meadow Planting Report & Photo Gallery
Meadow Planting Event
The Weybridge in Bloom team were out in force on the Sunday afternoon, 12th of May at Churchfield Recreation Ground to lay the wild flower meadow.
The event was well attended by families with young children, gardening enthusiasts from Weybridge Allotments and local residents enjoying the sunshine at the park.
“We are extremely delighted with the response,” said Charu Sood, Chair of WiB, ”The wildflower meadow display of Poppy, Cornflower, Corn Cockle and Corn Marigold will be a riot of colour through the summer and become a key area to attract the bees”.
Ian Donaldson, Vice Chair of WiB said, “The turnout has been quite a revelation and proves that our local community really wants to get involved and make a difference to our surroundings”.
The WAHGA representatives, promoting their Sunflower Competition, were extremely happy to be associated with WiB and thanked the team to provide for a wonderful platform and encouraging involvement of the children in gardening.
The Green spaces team from Elmbridge Council supported the event by providing with a gardening expert for preparing the meadow and wild flower seeds for sowing.
The organisers unveiled that the next WiB event will be the “Litter Picking by the River Wey” in the coming months and has promised to publish its full calendar of events for the next 12 months shortly.
