About Paws and Purrs Pet Care

I am the founder of Paws and Purrs Pet Care Limited and very passionate about animals so it was a natural progression for me to set up this business.

I have a huge love and understanding of animals and have worked with welfare teams in boarding kennels and rescue shelters looking after deaf dogs, rescues and dogs who suffer from anxiety.

I have completed the training courses below and continue to build on my knowledge and skills, attending seminars focused on canine psychology and behaviour modification.

Dog Walking

Group walks with plenty of mental stimulation and fun exercises to keep your dogs active and happy. Individual walks are also provided for dogs who need a little more time and care. GPS pet trackers map our routes for owners to view their dog’s daily activities.

Basic obedience training is provided on an individual basis, using positive reinforcement teaching techniques. We are fully insured, DBS checked and canine first aiders.

Our walks are designed to provide your dog with plenty of exercise, mental stimulation and social interaction with other dogs. We keep the groups small and never walk more than four dogs. GPS pet trackers map our routes so owners can view their dog’s daily activities.

We also offer individual walks for dogs who are a little older, need special attention or exhibit fearful or anxious behaviour towards other dogs or people.

Dogs are collected in a professionally equipped vehicle fitted out with secure crates, for the dog’s comfort and safety. We walk the dogs in fields, woodlands and along the towpath and they are always kept in a safe and controlled environment. If you require your dog to remain on the lead at all times, this can be arranged. We welcome all dogs but prefer larger, more energetic breeds to be walked individually. There may be times when we are unable to accept a dog due to their temperament and we cannot walk bitches in heat for safety reasons.

This is an important part of any dog’s life and a great way to keep your dog’s mind active by providing mental stimulation and helping you bond and understand each other. We use positive reinforcement training, where the goal is to develop a dog who thinks and works cooperatively with his human, rather than a dog who simply obeys commands. We work on behaviours including Recall, Emergency Stop, Nose Work, Meet & Greet and Loose Lead walking.

Socialisation has a huge influence on your puppy and if they haven’t been socialised properly, can grow up to be fearful and experience behavioural problems. Early training pays huge dividends and give your puppy the opportunity to build their confidence and social skills. Experiencing numerous situations and exposure to people, places and other animals during their socialisation period is critical.

Our home visits give you five sessions of personalised support with your new puppy and allow us to help you get things on track from the start. We introduce puppies to social skills and basic foundation training using positive training methods.

Our personalised sessions are filled with fun exercises and mental stimulation. We work on skills such as Recall, Sit, Stay, Lie Down and Loose Lead walking. We will help guide you through common puppy problems such as play biting, noise sensitivities and vet handling.

Puppies should be under the age of 16 weeks at the start of the sessions. All five visits must take place within a three month period.

Your pet will be transported in a state-of-the-art van equipped with every mod con: air conditioning, electrical ventilation system, windows to afford better light and views, and bespoke crates. Our van is fully electric, reducing your pet’s exposure to toxic fumes while also minimising our carbon footprint.
