Funding & Approval For Monument Hill Project
Weybridge in Bloom has been actively working towards the improvement works at the top of Monument Hill. This is going to be one of our main project for this year. Here are the detailed plans for your information.
We have now obtained permissions to work from Surrey Highways and Elmbridge Borough Council and have been successful in securing funding for the initiative from the Elmbridge Community Fund.
Also Surrey Councillor Tim Oliver has extended his support by making a generous contribution to this initiative from the Members’ Community Allocation Funding from Surrey.
Overall Specification For Monument Hill Project
- Cut back / remove debris to original tarmac edge leaving a gradual slope up to the border.
- Remove all weeds excluding Ivy towards far end.
- Treat vegetation with herbicide.
- Lightly level ground and remove debris from site.
- Supply and spread mulch to flat areas.
- Supply and plant as per agreed specification / plant numbers.
- Supply water bowser and provide initial water.
Note: others to remove large tree suckers, Robina trees, Bay tree and cut back vegetation overhanging road.
Work will progress in three stages as listed below.
Stage 1 (Winter 2020 – Spring 2021) – Start Date: 26th Feb 2021
- Tree works
- Clear and level area, cut back to kerb
- Weed kill area to remove invasive weeds
Stage 2 (Summer 2021)
- Weed kill area to remove invasive weeds
Stage 3 (Autumn 2021)
- Plant Supply
- Plant, supply bark and prepare etc.
