Party On The Green

on Saturday 11th June 2016

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event a great success.

There was a great attendance from the local community who turned out to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday. Families and people of all ages gathered to enjoy the entertainment, picnicking, browsing and shopping from the range of artisan food and craft stalls.

There was a parade of crowns ‘fit for a queen’ made by children from 3 Weybridge schools, with the Mayor of Elmbridge presenting prizes of delicious chocolate crowns made by Bachmanns.

Entertainment included Oatlands Pipe Band, music from Radio Jackie, rides for children, face painting & pottery decorating.

Matthew at Obsessions made a gold & topaz pendant for the event which was auctioned, with the money raised contributing to further events and projects by the Business Group and towards the charity supported by this event, which was Elmbridge Community Link.

Prudential RideLondon Surrey Cycle Ride

on Saturday 31st July 2016.

Following the success of Queen’s Jubilee Party On The Green, Weybridge Town Business Group organised a similar event to bring the community together to have fun and support the town centre.

The public came along to join in the fun, lunch or picnic, shop and cheer on the cyclists, many of whom were riding to support worthy charities.

The video above from Computer Care shows the Classic Pro Race riders coming down Monument Hill cheered on by the crowd and Brooklands Radio who provided the PA system and music for the event. For more info about last year’s event, see the RideLondon – Weybridge 2016 page.

Weybridge Christmas Lights Switch On Event

on Thursday 1st December 2016.

The local community got into the Christmas Spirit, gathering around the Christmas Tree at the junction of Church Street with Baker Street and High Street.

There was a parade of Christmas Lanterns by the children from St Charles Borromeo, Manby Lodge, St James’s and St George’s Schools.

The crowd saw the lights switched on by the Deputy Mayor, supported by Posh Pawn Star Ian Michael Towning.

Christmas Tree Lights Switch On and Carol Singing in Weybridge Town Centre
They joined in with some carol singing and enjoyed food and liquid refreshment provided by a selection of stalls and local traders. It was of course an opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done, with many shops staying open late for the occasion.

The event titled ‘Merry Christmas Weybridge’ was a Christmas Market with Family Entertainment and Festive Shopping.

There was a large selection of Artisan Food Stalls and Craft & Gift Stalls. Father Christmas and Sleigh were kindly provided by Rotary Woking to make it a special day for the young children.
