are again organising a Family Fun Day, this year called
All About Kids |

Weybridge baby, toddle kids, and youth clubs,

May 2013 |
|
A year ago historic Weybridge Hall was under
threat of closure. Following a fantastic
response from Weybridge people and celebrities
an exciting calendar of events are planned for
2013 at the hall. |
New red velvet stage curtains and blinds
are now in place, crafted and hung by The Fabric
Warehouse and plans for a state-of-the-art sound
system are in the pipeline thanks to a
Jubilee Fund grant made by Elmbridge Borough
Council to Friends of Weybridge Hall. |

‘All About Kids’ Saturday, June 8,
10.30am to 2.30pm |
|
Last year’s family day was a roaring success.
This year, Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam, and
Chertsey Fire Service with fire engine will be
making guest appearances at Weybridge Hall. |
|
There is even the chance for one lucky family to
win a professional photo shoot with Peppa or Sam
on the day – courtesy of Anna Marina
Photography. |
|
The delightful ‘Old Folks Club’ volunteers will
be serving tea and cakes; there’ll be face
painting, music from local school bands
supported by Powerhouse Studios; and the chance
to meet our friends from Explore Learning,
Churchfields Nursery, Homestart, Instep Dance,
1st Weybridge Scouts group and many more. |

Hire Weybridge Hall |
|
Weybridge Hall is available to hire for
community groups, local business, fitness/yoga
classes, training days, birthday parties or
wedding receptions with surprisingly low hire
rates. |
|
An additional 12 person meeting room is also
available for hire by the hour, equipped and
conveniently located in the centre of Weybridge,
with plentiful public parking opposite. |

The balcony
cannot be used until some £14,000-worth
of improvements required by Health and
Safety have been made. |

Bookings are
continuing to recover and for first
quarter 2013 were the best since 2009. |

Thanks to the
efforts of the Fabric Warehouse on
Church St., the Hall is now wearing its
new stage and window curtains. |

Another Open
Day with emphasis on children's
entertainment, community activities and
local interest will be on 8 June 2013. |

On 4 August
2013 the Friends have secured the Hall
to serve as a focal point in Weybridge
for the Ride Surrey cycle races that are
coming through the town for much of that
day as part of the Olympic legacy. |

The Weybridge
Art Society will hold an exhibition of
members' work from 25-28 May 2013. |

Difference?

The Hall has been given a second chance (see
below), but we need your help to make it work.
The Council has given the local community two
years to show that it really needs the Hall.
We have to use it, or lose it!
|
|
This popular venue for a variety of classes,
courses and events has so much potential, but we
are looking for volunteers to help make that
potential a reality.
|
|
If you can spare just an hour once a week, this
could make a huge difference to an important
public amenity. We are looking for people to
help with liasing with local businesses,
applying for funds, raising the Hall's profile
and fundraising projects.

Weybridge Hall Given New Life

We were pleased to strongly support the
campaign to save Weybridge Hall, including
prominent publicity on the allaboutWeybridge
website, so we are delighted to announce that
following a period of uncertainty about its
future, Weybridge Hall has been given a fresh
start.
Elmbridge Borough Council, DC Leisure,
Weybridge Society and Friends of Weybridge Hall
have signed a two-year partnership agreement to
secure the future of the Hall, an important
local amenity in the heart of Weybridge.

Local publicist & celebrity Max Clifford
(picture on right) has boosted the success of the
Hall’s re-launch by agreeing to fund the
redecoration of the Hall. This will provide a
lighter, brighter space for hire by individuals,
businesses and groups such as dance classes,
children’s football classes and the Old Folks’
Club.
Mr Clifford said, “A lot of people
in the local area get a lot of pleasure from the
different activities running at the Hall. This
is why I’m happy to fund the redecoration. It’s
great news that the Council is supporting this
important public facility. It is the right
decision for the community.” |

Jennifer Doyle,
chairwoman of Friends of Weybridge Hall, said,
“This is fantastic news. We were overwhelmed by
the local support for the Hall and delighted
that Max Clifford has given such a boost to its
future. With the Partnership working together to
improve usage of the Hall, we are confident that
we have secured this vital amenity for the
community. Now we have to show that we really
want the Hall to stay open by using it!”
Cllr Jan Fuller, Portfolio Holder for
Leisure and Cultural Services, said “I strongly
believe that the Weybridge Hall Partnership will
reinforce Weybridge Hall’s position as a social
hub for the local community. It is great to see
people coming together to improve their
environment and take responsibility for such a
remarkable building that has been at the heart
of the community for many generations. Weybridge
Hall is a fantastic local asset and is bound to
remain so for many years to come with the
support of the Weybridge Hall Partnership”. |

Weybridge Hall offers a large indoor space
with hardwood floor, excellent acoustics and
great lighting. It is available for hire for
private functions and public use. For more
