Weybridge and Waterford Male Voice
Choirs in Concert
|
|
The Weybridge Male Voice Choir is pleased to be
welcoming the Waterford Male Voice Choir from the
Emerald Isle to join them in their Autumn Concert on
Friday 10th October at the Catholic Church of Christ
Prince of Peace in Portmore Way, Weybridge starting
at 8.00 pm. |
|
Tickets for the concert are £8.00,
obtained by phoning the box office on 01252 326514.

There will also be a retiring collection in aid of the
Spelthorne Mental Health Association. |
| Besides the similar initials the two choirs have a
number of other things in common. With around 50 to 60
singers each they are both about the same size, they
practice on Tuesdays from 8.00 to 10.00 pm, they have
raised thousands of pounds (or rather Euros in the case
of Waterford) for charitable causes and they place great
emphasis on the enjoyment and the camaraderie of making
music. |
| The one major difference between the two choirs is
their age. While the Weybridge choir was formed way back
in 1921 making it nearly 90 years old, the Waterford
choir was formed only in 2001, but has quickly gained a
fine reputation with successes in festivals and
competitions at home and abroad. |
| The Waterford Choir
boasts a fine and varied repertoire of male voice music,
including some well known Irish classics, but perhaps
rather surprisingly “Swing Low Sweet Chariot”, the
English rugby anthem, also appears on their current
list! |
