Whether you are struggling to
sleep at night, are suffering from back pain or
tight limbs, feeling stressed or just looking
for an alternative form of exercise, yoga is for
you.
|
|
Yoga is the union of body,
mind and spirit which restores and maintains a
healthy body by developing strength, balance and
flexibility. It can be physically demanding but
it is versatile enough to be adapted to suit any
life stage or body shape - teen years,
pregnancy, middle and advanced years. |
|
There is no 'one-way' to
practice yoga and is not about being stronger,
more flexible or better than anyone else, but
about controlling your mind and body through a
sequence of moves and breathing techniques.
|
 |
|
The regular practice of
asanas (sequence of postures) and pranayamas
(breathing techniques), work together to help
control one's senses and concentration. |
|
If practiced regularly
enough, yoga can become a form of meditation to
you and you will see the results in your daily
life. |
|
Yoga is the perfect exercise
for pregnant women. It is a gentle, safe means
of keeping the body toned and supple without
strain, of keeping aches and pains at bay and
energy flowing, while preparing for the physical
demands of childbirth and motherhood itself. |
|
Getting your body back into
shape after giving birth, can be a very daunting
prospect. Together with your baby, yoga can help
tone up your muscles and get your body aligned
all while bonding with your child. |

"I started yoga
classes with Camilla and find it very
enjoyable. Not only is she a brilliant,
inspirational teacher but she makes the
classes really fun! Yoga is very easily
learnt and does not require much
equipment. I definitely recommend her
classes!" |

Classical yoga, as defined by
Patanjali, is an eight-stage process of
spiritual development - the eight limbs of yoga.
The first two are ethical and moral disciplines
(yamas and nyamas); the third and fourth are
postures (asanas) and breathing (pranayama); the
last four stages are meditative stages learning
to control the senses, concentrate, meditate and
feel enlightened.
|
|
Ashtanga Yoga is a system of
yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K.
Pattabhi Jois.
|
|
This method of yoga involves
synchronising the breath with a progressive
series of postures (asanas) which produces an
intense internal heat, a heavy sweat which
detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is
improved circulation, a light and strong body,
and a calm mind. |
|
Camilla Campbell Yoga will
carefully guide you through the standing
postures, the Primary Series and the finishing
sequence until you are comfortable to join the
Mysore Self Practice classes in the morning and
move through the sequence at your own pace but
with guidance and assistance. |
|
If you are a complete
beginner to Ashtanga Yoga, we recommend you join
the Beginners Course to familiarise yourself
with the asanas (postures). |
|
"Camilla is an extremely
dedicated and focused teacher. I owe her a lot.
I doubt I would have embraced Ashtanga Yoga had
I been introduced to it by another teacher. She
communicates very well and her enthusiasm about
yoga is very clear. I can feel that teaching
yoga gives a lot of joy to Camilla. For a yoga
student it is really encouraging and for me, it
creates a positive bilateral connection." |

Camilla Campbell Yoga has
carefully adapted classic yoga postures and
breathing exercises to promote fitness during
pregnancy, both physically and emotionally. We
provide you with simple exercises that you can
practice at home during the different stages of
your pregnancy.
|
|
The effortless exercises
promote pelvic awareness and relaxation as well
as a safe environment in which to explore your
feelings and adapt to the changes in your body. |
 |
|
Women are empowered to feel
confident in their ability to give birth. The
yoga postures and movements will provide more
space for the baby and alleviate many pregnancy
discomforts. Every class ends with a deep
relaxation allowing the body to release tensions
and the mind to become still.
|
|
Both mother and baby are
nourished and energy is renewed. Classes are
open to all levels, including complete
beginners. |

Do you have an aching neck
and shoulders as a result of hours spent bending
forward to feed your baby? A weakened pelvic
floor? Or are you extremely tired and feeling
out of breath going up the stairs? Not to
mention coping with colic, crying and the
general stress of being a new mother! |
|
Post-pregnancy is the most important time for a
woman to regain her physical strength and
stamina and Postnatal Yoga is the perfect way to
get back in shape. |
 |
|
Postnatal Yoga classes include a gentle
progression of yoga poses for toning your body
and renewing your strength while helping to
alleviate the stress incurred by giving birth.
|
|
You do not have to be experienced at yoga to
attend these classes. |

|
Yoga is fun for Mummy and Me!
This is an excellent way to use the discipline
of yoga to regain fitness, muscle tone and
strength after childbirth. You can also involve
your baby in the process. The exercises are
totally safe and simple to gain greater
fulfillment and joy with your baby in the early
months. |
|
Yoga for your baby will
assist the postural development of the child
from lying to walking. Lack of physical exercise
for a baby will have the same effects as for an
adult. |
 |
|
In the classes we recognise
that the baby needs to strengthen both his/her
muscular abilities and nervous system. The
baby's physical development requires times of
high energy and times of peaceful stillness, and
a few basic moves for your baby can help make
them more comfortable and calm. |
|
The classes are baby centred
so when your baby is upset, our policy is for
you to attend to their needs either
breastfeeding, changing, holding or generally
reassuring them. With the support of others, you
will be able to develop a balance between doing
yoga for yourself and meeting the needs of your
child. |

Yoga For Teenagers

|
A teenager's life and body
are in a constant state of change. Physically,
they are undergoing a huge transformation as
their bodies mature. Additionally, the social,
academic, and family pressures that they
experience are causes of stress. Yoga promotes a
sense of calm and emotional balance which keeps
the spirit strong and healthy, benefiting both
the mind as well as the body. |
 |
|
Teenagers often feel uneasy
with the rapid changes that their bodies are
undergoing - yoga helps to build self confidence
as well as a sense of body acceptance. |
|
Boys especially, tend to
appreciate the way that yoga helps to build
muscle, while girls enjoy the sense of grace and
poise that yoga gives. For both genders, the
sense of physical well being, combined with the
appreciation of a strong, healthy body make yoga
an ideal choice for quality exercise. |

Yoga For Sports

|
Yoga and sport are often seen
in opposition, by nature of the quiet approach
in yoga in contrast to the competitiveness of
sport. In yoga we talk about self-practice,
whereas in sport the emphasis is placed upon
training. There is a difference between them:
training is for the future; practice is for now. |
 |
|
If you think yoga is just for
gentle relaxation, think again. More and more
athletes from different disciplines are learning
the many dimensions of their performance that
can be improved by adding yoga to their
training. |
|
Here are a few benefits that yoga can bring to
your sport, whichever your discipline.
It increases and improves: |

So come and give it a try -
you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. |

"Having attended Camilla's
classes, I quickly realised the benefits as I
sweated so much! Yoga with Camilla sometimes
leaves me more tired then after an hour in the
gym but definitely more relaxed! Her classes are
always a big asset to my week and help me
understand how my body and mind work better
together." |

Modern offices are often
dynamic, challenging and rewarding places to
work. However nowadays, we work longer hours and
spend too much time commuting. This can lead to
stress, and can put pressure on leisure-time. If
you would like your employees to be healthier,
stronger, calmer and more focused, then organise
a yoga session at your office. Yoga is not about
bending like a contortionist but is a sensible
and fun way to better health, mental and general
well-being. |
|
Camilla Campbell Yoga can
organise yoga workshops and classes on-site or
at a convenient location for your teams and
tailored to the needs of the organisation. |
 |
|
Come wearing comfortable and
loose clothing and bring a yoga mat. The classes
will cater to all levels of yoga. |
|
Sessions last from 45 to 90
minutes and are tailored to each group's
requirements. |
|
|
|
"Being able to take a
course in the same building where I work is a
perfect solution because not only is the
location convenient, but the classes are great!
Camilla is energetic, engaging and a fantastic
teacher. She has managed to lock every single
Monday evening in my calendar." |

Camilla Campbell has worked
in communications and marketing in the finance
industry for 10 years. Being a sports addict and
competitive by nature, she was initially
sceptical about yoga and pilates. Clearly
needing to chill out, a friend persuaded her to
try an Ashtanga Yoga class before coming to any
conclusion about this 'alternative practice'.
|
|
The class was led by a
dedicated Ashtanga yogi who continues to spend
many years in India with Sri Pattabi Joi,
learning the discipline and philosophy of yoga.
Camilla finished her class feeling completely
exhausted, de-toxed, wobbly-legged and
pleasantly surprised. She had the best nights
sleep that evening and was a complete convert!
Her life has become easier to manage, her
sporting ability has improved, she is less
competitive in her daily life and knows how to
relax when feeling the heat of the city. |
 |
|
Camilla is a qualified and
registered Yoga Alliance teacher who specialises
in Ashtanga Yoga. She will be a certified
Perinatal and Baby Yoga teacher from Birthlight
UK and will continue to develop her study of
Baby Massage and Tai Chi. Camilla is registered
with British Yoga Teachers Association and is
fully insured. |
|
Camilla views her yoga classes as a two-way
relationship. |
|
|
|
"Camilla guides the class
very peacefully through this challenging
Ashtanga yoga experience, but at the same time
she always encourages people to push their
limits, perfectly knowing the strengths and
weaknesses of everybody in her class. She is a
very patient person who is able to take time to
adjust the different positions for every single
individual so that all of us can benefit from
her strong experience. |
|
Moreover, the
general atmosphere is really pleasant and I feel
like I am truly sharing with the others in the
class. Not only the practice of yoga, but also
the simple things
and some very funny moments!" |

"Having attended over 10
weeks of yoga classes with Camilla I have
noticed an increase in my flexibility and
strength. The first 2 or 3 lessons my muscles
ached in places I had never expected, but the
benefits in the long term are definitely worth
it! Lessons are challenging with the vigorous
postures but the emphasis on controlled
breathing means that at the end of the class I
feel deeply relaxed." |
