Following on from the success of 2 new
Choirs in Weybridge and Chobham in Sept 2008,
we are pleased to announce another 2 new
choirs.
Weybridge
Daytime Choir as well as Evening Choir
NEW starting in January 2009: Weybridge
morning Rock Choir. Wednesdays
10-11.30am. Rehearsing in conjunction
with the Weybridge Tuesday evening and
Chobham Thursday evening Rock Choirs, a
weekly morning session. All welcome.

Rock Choir - Fun, Up-Beat Singing
For All
Rock Choir is the South East’s only pop,
gospel and Motown performance choir. It
attracts all ages and all levels of
experience. Most individuals who join
have not sung in public before and in
taking part, they develop
self-confidence, new skills and enjoy
fun, up-beat rehearsals and a huge sense
of fulfilment after each performance.
Rehearsals take place in Weybridge,
Chobham, Guildford, Godalming and
Farnham Surrey over three, ten-week
terms leading to a variety of events and
performances.
Rock Choir is split into three age
groups: Rock Choir Juniors for ages
6-10, Rock Choir Young Adults for ages
10-21 and Rock Choir Adults. They each
rehearse at various times each week.
Rock Choir has a large and loyal
membership and is very popular with a
huge fan base and support from local
media, charities and organisations.

perform everything from old classics
like Build Me Up Buttercup to Amy
Winehouse songs and at the moment we are
doing Material Girl by Madonna which has
quite a complicated routine. "

they are equal while they are in that

are no auditions to judge if they are

Performances
Highlights of 2008 included Rock Choir's

and Disneyland Paris. The choir has also
performed at The New Victoria Theatre

Pop Motown
& Gospel Singing
Surrey Business Person of the Year &
Institute of Director's Special Award
Caroline Lusher, founder and director of
Rock Choir who was a finalist in Surrey
Business Person of the Year 2007/8 has
been nominated for the South East's
Institute of Director's Special
Chairman's award.
The ceremony will be held in Pall Mall
at the end of November and will
highlight dynamic business leaders from
the South East who offer an exciting and
successful business to the local
community.
Rock Choir was founded by Caroline
Lusher in 2001 when she taught A-Level
performing Arts at Farnborough 6th Form
College. She initiated the idea to help
her class of students gain confidence in
singing and performance.
Caroline’s in-depth background and
experience in performance and
composition allowed her to create an
unusual and dynamic new performance
group in the style of a choir as well as
finding a positive and unique way to
communicate with her students. The Rock
Choir grew rapidly attracting nearly 170
teenage students at the college as it
became a popular enrichment activity.
Caroline then left the college and
offered Rock Choir to the general public
creating a business package that would
enable her to work with a large number
of choirs full-time. Caroline musically
arranges and choreographs all the pop,
gospel and motown songs that the Rock
Choir performs and teaches each choir
separately over the thirty- week
schedule.
The Rock Choir has achieved a fantastic
reputation and is well known for its
up-beat and feel-good performances.
Caroline’s primary objective is to
support her members and make sure they
experience a sense of fulfilment and
improvement in confidence. She believes
that everyone should be able to enjoy
singing and performance and be part of
something special. Local media,
businesses, organisations, charities and
MPs all agree that Rock Choir as
something fantastic for the community.
Rock Choir Rehearsal Schedules
Rock Choir follows the Surrey County
Council school calendar but rehearses
for 10 weeks each term with various
performances throughout the year.

Rock Choir For Juniors
Rock Choir Juniors offers an opportunity
for 6-10 year olds to learn pop, gospel
and Motown songs, routines, coordination
and a variety of musical and vocal
skills that will support self confidence
and a future in singing and performance.
Rehearsals are fun and
lively. Most Juniors move up to the
young adult Rock Choir when they reach
the joining age.
Rock Choir Juniors rehearses for 10
weeks a term in the following locations:
St John’s Centre, 222 Epsom Road,
Merrow,

The Weybridge Rock

Rock Choir Live In
Concert
Rock Choir For Young Adults
Rock Choir for Young Adults offers an
opportunity for 10-21 year olds to
experience advanced training in voice,
harmony, routine, coordination using
pop, gospel and motown songs. Although
most members who join have not sung in
public before, they quickly gain
confidence through Rock Choir and enjoy
the fun and lively weekly rehearsals.
Members tend to become proud that they
are part of Rock Choir and enjoy
performing in Rock Choir at events and
venues such as Guilfest,The New Victoria
Theatre, Woking and Disneyland Paris.
They also use Rock Choir as part of
their Duke of Edinburgh awards and on
their CVs when applying for college and
jobs. There is one rehearsal a week for
this age group and members travel from
far a-field to attend as it is a popular
session.

for 10 weeks a term in the following

Choir for Young Adults 10-21 will
start in September 2009 however, free
workshops and taster sessions will be
available for those in this age group as
from Spring 2009.

Rock Choir For Adults
Rock Choir for adults attracts a wide
variety of individuals who simply love
to sing pop, gospel and motown songs.
Most members have not sung before in
public and quickly gain self-confidence
by taking part.
The weekly rehearsals offer time-out for
the member in a fun and lively
atmosphere whilst learning new skills.
There is a huge sensation of feeling
part of a group and members experience a
triumph after performing in front of an
audience.
Members also experience a sense of pride
and enjoyment having performed at venues
such as Guilfest, The New Victoria
Theatre and Disneyland Paris.

Rehearsals
Rock Choir for Adults rehearses for 10
weeks a term in the following locations:
Wednesdays 10-11.30am in
Weybridge Hall, Church Street.
Rehearsing in conjunction with the
Weybridge Tuesday evening and Chobham
Thursday evening Rock Choirs, a weekly
morning session. All welcome. Starting
in January 2009 with a FREE Taster
session on Wednesday 10th December.

The Guildford Adult choir on a Wednesday
evening is be split into two - an early
choir from 7.00pm to 8.30pm and a late
choir from 8.30pm to 10.00pm. Members
will be asked to choose which choir they
wish to be in. The splitting of the
choirs is in response to increased
membership applications. In addition,
the venue will be changed to Guildford
College - Stoke Park Campus, Guildford,
Surrey GU1 1EZ

Rock Choir offers a variety of workshops
through the year to groups of 30 or
above.

Content can be designed to suit your
needs and prices are quoted to reflect
location, number in group and style of
workshop.
Popular workshops include Show Songs and
a pop, gospel and motown taster. The
workshops are great fun and excellent
for team-building and developing
confidence.
Group numbers at a maximum should not
exceed 250.
