What Is Modern Jive? |
Modern Jive is a
combination of many well-known dance styles such as Jive,
Salsa, Rock-n-Roll and Ballroom to name but a few.
|
|
If you've seen fast Jive on Strictly Come Dancing and are
worried that it's too energetic, don't worry - Modern Jive
is a different dance. It's a much slower and relaxing pace
(without kicks and flicks) that everyone can cope with and
enjoy. |
|
Musical Styles |
|
Unlike most dance styles that have grown up around a certain
type of music in a certain era, Modern Jive lends itself to
almost any musical style from 40s swing, through the decades
up to today's latest pop chart music. |
|
|
|
| It's Easy To Learn & Becoming
Very Popular |
| Modern jive is not a dance just of the moment, it's
been around for over 20 years and its increasing
popularity has made it the fastest growing partner dance
around today. |
| The reason for this is that it is easy to learn (no
fancy footwork) along with its fantastic visual impact. |
| Within a few short weeks, total beginners to Modern
Jive can look as if they've been dancing for years. |
|
 |
| Do I Need To Bring A Partner? |
| No there's need to bring a partner. Everyone is
welcome - couples, singles, friends or family (adults
17+). |
| Do I Need To Be Concerned About Remembering The
Steps? |
| The lessons are relaxed and informal. The evening is
for fun, everybody is friendly and helpful so you can
just enjoy yourself. It's great exercise for all levels
and abilities. Just bring a sense of humour and have fun
whilst dancing yourself fit. |
| What's The Venue Like? |
| The jive club's in a great hall with a lovely sprung
wooden dance floor. There's a large car park directly
outside which is free. |
| Sociable Club Atmosphere |
| There's a good social atmosphere. Everyone's very
friendly and new members are made very welcome. Modern
Jive is undoubtedly the most social of all dance styles.
The way the classes are structured, dancers are
constantly changing partners throughout the lessons, and
then after each song during the freestyle period, the
ladies are encouraged to ask the men to dance as well as
the men asking the ladies. |
| Meet new friends. Bring friends and family. Dad?
Colleagues, friends, Brother? Sister? Auntie? Nephew?
Also additional social events organised for fun and
dancing. |
|
 |
Your Modern Jive Instructors
|
| Experienced and fun teacher Mikey will
be your host, ably assisted by Diane. They will show you
the moves and usually circulate so that you get a chance
to learn the steps with them and the other friendly
dancers. |
| What To Wear? |
| There is no need to dress specially, simply dress
for comfort. i.e.
T-shirt/cool shirt and smooth soled shoe (not sandal or slingbacks guys! You don't have to have dance shoes, but
if you do they should be low heeled. But you can wear
any regular small heeled shoe which holds your foot with
strap or laces etc. Trainers are a bit restrictive due
to grippy undersole. |
| Do I Need To Book? |
| Our contact details are at the top of the page, for
if you have any queries but you can just turn up on the
day and bring along a sense of humour. |
