"Hello,
It is my pleasure to have found your website. I spent
many years at St. Charles Borromeo School as a child and
attended the Church on Heath Road. I lived on the Hamm
Moor Estate on Shakespeare Road and enjoyed some of the
coach trips down to
the coast in the early fifties late forties.
You mention on your site about St.
Georges College Sports days and I have these pictures of
myself participating in the running and the three legged
races outside the pavilion. Many a cricket game was
played there and also our Dads took part in tug-o-war
competitions.
We also had fancy dress
competitions and the Morris Dancers trained by Mr. &
Mrs. Ratcliffe of Tennyson Road performed for the
crowds. We also did Maypole Dancing as I remember
rehearsing for what seemed like hours to get it just
right.
I have lived in Canada since 1959
but did return to Weybridge in the spring of this year
for the first time in 35 years and was delighted for the
most part, that I could recognize so very much of the
place. Much has changed of course, but then that’s life,
I guess.
I hope these photos are of some
use to you. In the three legged race I am the girl with
the boy third from the left and in the running race I am
the girl third from the right. My name was Pauline
Flanagan but I’m, sorry to say I don’t know the names of
anyone else in the photo."
