Forgotten for many years, the Hand
and Spear has been transformed into the
most stylish and elegant pub in
Weybridge. |

The pool tables and karaoke have been
replaced by comfy sofas, luxurious décor and a
state of the art open plan kitchen. |
|
Featuring some the region’s grandest
Victorian architecture, The Hand and
Spear has re-opened after a £1.2m
refurbishment. |

The objective of the renovation was
to preserve the charm of its original
Victorian features whilst restoring the
former splendour of this old pub. |

The new look includes a dramatic
display of the pub's extensive range of
wines and champagnes, as a central
feature. |

The kitchen has an open viewing
window and a table opposite to enable
customers to see the chefs in action. |

The outdoor facilities at the Hand &
Spear pub are very impressive. There are
3 outdoor heated areas with plenty of
seats & tables in the extensive garden
which has been carefully landscaped. |

sun in the summer, but it also has
heated Jumbrellas and other facilities

novelist Robert Louis Stevenson stayed
here, at the Hand & Spear hotel, while
correcting proofs of his classic
19th-century novel, Treasure Island.

The Brooklands Room,
which includes a pictorial display of
Brooklands' famous motor & aviation
history, seats up to 35 people. It can
also be hired to include the outside
canopy area, taking the maximum seating
up to 60 people. |

History Of The Hand & Spear Pub Weybridge
|
|
The "Hand & Spear was built by Lord
King, Baron of Ockham , as a summer house for his family
between 1830 &1833. In 1833 Lord King died & his land in
Weybridge passed to his second son, Peter Locke King who
brought his widowed mother to live in Woburn House (now
St. Georges College). |
|
When the railway was
built & open, Peter Locke King realised
that his summer house could be a
business asset and turned it into a
hotel. |
|
He called it the
"Hand and Spear" from his family crest
which shows a hand grasping a spear. |

Parking:
The Hand & Spear has its own car park and there are
2 large car parks run by Elmbridge Council
which serve Weybridge railway station. Known as The
Heath North & South Car Parks, these are free of charge
after 6pm. The North Car Park is the nearest and borders
the Hand & Spear Pub. There are taxi ranks
conveniently nearby at Weybridge railway station. |
