This year we are also delighted to announce that Brooklands Museum will be exhibiting the Napier-Railton at the show. Commissioned by the Brooklands driver John Cobb, the 24 litre Napier-Railton was designed by Reid Railton and built by Thomson and Taylor at their engineering works at Brooklands in 1933. John Cobb and his co-drivers achieved many Brooklands and World land speed records with the car. The car is now owned by Brooklands Museum and is kept in full working order and during the afternoon there will be a demonstration.

The show also provides exhibitors with the chance to win one of four trophies – Best Car and Best Motorcycle and Runner-up for both, chosen by an expert judging panel. Last year over 5,000 people attended the show in support of the Hospices and the event raised over £20,000. As a charity, all money raised at the event is used to support our patients and their families living with life-limiting illnesses.

The Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival is back this year on the 13th and 14th June, which is the weekend closest to the anniversary of the original date of the opening of the Brooklands Race Track - 17th June 1907. Once again, it will be one of the biggest motoring competitions held at Brooklands since 1939 and is being organised in association with the Vintage Sports-Car Club .

Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival

The new structure of the competitions was changed in 2013 to encourage entrants to enjoy a full weekend of motoring competition and give them greater flexibility to choose from the three stand-alone competitions and this will again be the format for 2015. The competitions will be:
The Double Twelve Speed Trials on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit on Saturday 13th June
The Double Twelve Concours held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June
The Double Twelve Driving Tests on Sunday 14th June

Each event will have its own class and overall winners, but to achieve a Brooklands Double Twelve award, an entrant must compete in any two of the three events and the combined scores of these two events will decide their Double Twelve placing.

This means that a car may enter the Speed Trials on the Saturday and then the Driving Tests on the Sunday. Alternatively a car can be entered for the Concours on the Saturday and take part in the Driving Tests on the Sunday and a car could also be entered for the Speed Trials on Saturday and be judged in the Concours on Sunday. It will not be possible to enter all three events due to timing restrictions and priority will be given to people entering more than one event.

Entry forms are available to download here.

MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher - a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed.

Register Now!

Let's Glow Girls!
Join Woking & Sam Beare Hospices for their annual Midnight Walk, one of the hospices largest fundraising events, which brings women of all ages together.
It’s a truly magical evening with many walking in memory of friends and loved ones and others just wanting to take on a challenge, have some fun and support our hospices.
Last year over 600 women walked, talked, and ‘flashed’ their way round the 8 mile distance to receive their medal and a hot cup of tea. We hope even more will join us this year and help us light up the night with our neon theme!
The walk will start at Mercedes-Benz World at 10pm and follow an 8 mile circular route through Brooklands, New Haw and West Byfleet.
Price: £15 which includes a special Midnight Walk T-shirt, refreshments and a medal!
Before the start we will be selling tickets for our Midnight Walk raffle with great prizes on offer as well as glow in dark items. Our much loved flashing bunny ears will also be on sale, so make sure to bring some small change along.

The walk is open to women aged 11 and over. Under 18s must walk with a participating adult, collect sponsorship in their own name and, of course, have their parents permission.
This is an experience not to be missed, so let’s glow girls!
Join hundreds of women on an 8 mile moonlight walk through Brooklands, Weybridge

All money raised will help to fund our services throughout the boroughs of Woking, Surrey Heath, North Guildford, Runnymede, Spelthorne and Elmbridge.

The Midnight Walk will start from Mercedes-Benz World on June 19th at 10pm (most people are still walking at midnight!) and will follow an 8 mile circular route.

Oatlands: Henry VIII's Palace to First World War Hospital

A New Display by the Elmbridge Museum

  • When: Monday 22 June 2015 until autumn
  • Where: Elmbridge Borough Council, Civic Centre, Esher, Surrey KT10 9SD
  • Times: 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday
Oatlands House Display By Elmbridge Museum at Esher Civic Centre
Oatlands Palace
Elmbridge Museum has opened a new display entitled Oatlands: From Henry VIII's palace to First World War hospital.

It tells the story of Oatlands from its beginning as one of King Henry VIII's lost palaces up to the present day.

The display opens on Monday 22 June 2015 at the Civic Centre in Esher for a limited period.
Items on display reflect the significance of Oatlands Palace in the Tudor and Stuart periods as a favoured Queen's residence. It follows the story of how the Oatlands name continued, on a different site, as an aristocratic home.
In the eighteenth century, the composer Joseph Haydn recorded a visit to Oatlands House in his diary, remarking that 'the little castle, eighteen miles from London, lies on a slope and commands the most glorious view'. Used as a hospital for New Zealand troops from 1916, Oatlands House later became Oatlands Park Hotel, as it remains to this day.
Elmbridge Museum's mission is to 'engage people with their past, present and future by collecting, preserving and presenting selected and significant objects from the history of Elmbridge, for the purposes of learning and enjoyment'.
Cllr Mary Sheldon, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said, "The new Elmbridge Museum exhibition at the Civic Centre offers a fascinating insight into the magnificence and local importance of Oatlands.
The Tudor and Stuart artefacts as well as the other items on display from the Museum Collection will shed some light on how Oatlands Palace served the community up to the time when Oatlands House was used as a hospital for New Zealander soldiers and until now as the Oatlands Park Hotel."

Introduce your baby to songs, rhymes
and books at your library!
Weybridge Library - Fun for the children
Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, aged under 5, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It is fun, interactive and noisy!
Nursery rhymes are great for language development - they have a lot of rhythm which catch baby’s attention, and repetition, which is good for speech development. It is also a nice way of introducing babies and toddlers to their local library!
Rhymetimes start with finger rhymes and action songs. Percussion instruments accompany the rhythmic songs and the sessions end with some closing songs.
Tickets are free and must be booked in person by coming into the library between Sunday and Wednesday for the Thursday Rhymetimes.
For Saturday Rhyme sessions, you can book your place by coming into the library in person any time from the Saturday before. We look forward to seeing you there.
