Learn to Program using Lego Mindstorms Robots

Use the latest EV3 Mindstorms kits to complete a number of exciting challenges, including an obstacle course, pattern drawing, solving a real 3D maze and even taking on other robots in a game of autonomous football!
Underpinning all the fun is a serious programming course that, while assuming no prior knowledge, will equip each child with a solid grasp of the fundamental building blocks of any programming language. Furthermore, it will teach them how to plan and design software through the discipline of computational thinking, reinforcing and building on the new computing curriculum.

Course Feedback from Kids & Parents:
“My son was absolutely blown away by this course. I have never seen him so enthusiastic; he didn't want to leave and came home to do more programming!! He learnt so much and loved every minute. I would highly recommend the course!”
“The instructors were really kind and taught me a lot. They made me feel comfortable even though it was my first experience of programming and helped me and the group discover our own solutions to problems”
“With expert guidance, my son learnt a brand new skill whilst also being taught valuable lessons of teamwork and perseverance”

Holiday fun at Brooklands tomo: car rides, kids 'Pattern printing' workshop

FAMILY ACTIVITIES AT BROOKLANDS MUSEUM
During the school holidays, the Museum lays on so much to see and do, you'll need more than a day!

Car Rides
On weekdays during the school holidays (Mon-Thur during the Summer), our Car Rides team will take you in a vintage-style motor car up the steep Test Hill, along the awesome banked track and back down the Finishing Straight where you will be dropped back. You’re allowed to go as many times as you like but we ask for a minimum donation of £1 per passenger, per ride.

Workshops
Every weekday during the school holidays, we invite you to try one of our fantastic family workshops. These change frequently and range from building your own powered ‘Peg Car’ using every day household materials, launching your own ‘Mousetranaut’, making your own magnetic racing car and track or building your own paper helicopter.
Summer 2016 Workshops
1 – 5 August: Lets go fly a kite
8 – 12 August: Straw Bikes
15 – 19 August: Pillboxes
22 – 26 August: The Great Brooklands Build Off

Sessions run from 11.00-12.30 and from 1.00-3.00. All materials will be provided.
Bus Rides
Look out for the Bus Stop on the Museum site in the Paddock and hop on board a London double decker bus for a short trip around the leafy roads surrounding the Museum before being dropped back again. Bus Rides - Holiday fun for Kids & Families at Brooklands Museum Weybridge Surrey
Your conductor will welcome you aboard and ask for a minimum donation of £1 per passenger. Rides last approximately 15 minutes and will run in sessions before and after lunch.

4D Theatre
If you want to really experience speed and exhilaration without leaving your seat, then head over to the 4D Theatre! We have three fantastic rides lined up for you and these run EVERY day including weekends. 4D Theatre fun at Brooklands Museum Weybridge Surrey
Firstly, sit behind the driver of the Napier-Railton as we take you back to the 1930s for a race around the banked circuit taking in the pits, and motoring sheds before heading out onto the track and challenging two other pre-war racing cars.
Next, join the RAF Red Arrows as you sit in the cockpit as one of their display team as they embark on one of their breath-taking aerobatic routines.
Finally, let us take you back to 1956 as British racing legend Mike Hawthorn takes you for a lap at Le Mans in his Jaguar D-Type. this is the actual film and commentary made by Mike and is so realistic, you will think you were there.

Pedal Planes and Cars
Pedal power is the name of the game here as young budding drivers and pilots can try out our superbly built aircraft and vehicles. A mini circuit has been reserved near the Shell Pagoda for youngsters under the watchful eyes of the Brooklands Stewards. Maximum speed limit applies!

Bertie Bear
Bertie Bear is the Brooklands larger-than-life mascot who likes to roam the site to meet his fans every weekday during the summer holidays. You can’t miss him so if you see him, do go and say hello.  Bertie Bear - Mascot fun for Kids at Brooklands Museum Weybridge Surrey

Concorde
The Brooklands Concorde Experience is now even better as we’ve installed new ‘sensonic’ technology to enhance your sense of flying Concorde! Take your seat as the Captain welcomes you and he is given the instruction…“Concorde Speedbird One cleared for take-off…”
See, hear and feel Concorde blast along the runway, soar into the sky and accelerate to Mach 2 - twice the speed of sound. Re-live the excitement of the supersonic age in this fascinating 35-minute Concorde ‘flight’ evoking emotional memories.
There are scheduled ‘flights’ running throughout every day; the fare is £5 for adults and £3 for children aged 5-16 and includes:   Concorde - Holiday fun at Brooklands Museum Weybridge Surrey

The Rector and Churchwardens warmly invite you to the Private View of the inaugural exhibition by Claire Reed, Weybridge Artist-in-Residence.

Claire will be presenting a contemplative site-specific installation exploring the fluid nature of belonging in the context of change. The work not only emerges from Claire's experience as 'the new girl on the block' - looking with fresh eyes at an unfamiliar environment, people, symbolism and traditions - but also the precious interaction with many people from the Church and across the local community.
'Vocal', Claire's 3 channel audio piece, will be heard within the church building amidst a series of interrelated 3D work and works on paper. The community art project 'Inside Out' will be on display in the Church garden.
All welcome to come and enjoy the experience.

INVITATION TO OWNERS OF PRE-WAR VEHICLES
Back on the 7th August 1926, the first ever British Grand Prix was run at the Brooklands Motor Circuit. To celebrate the 90th Anniversary of this, the 2016 Brooklands Reunion will be run to mark this memorable occasion. With this in mind, we would like to extend this invitation to you and your car to come and join us for the day.

Plans for the day include a line-up of Grand Prix cars from those 90 years, along with other cars that would have been seen at the track during meetings from the pre-war years. There will be an opportunity to take part in demonstration laps around the Mercedes Benz World circuit, as well as ascents of the famous Test Hill.

We hope that many of the vehicles that have attended previous Brooklands Reunions and the Centenary event, in 2007, will return, and we are hopeful that with your help, we can put together a line-up of cars that reflect the history of the Brooklands Circuit and Grand Prix racing throughout the nine decades that followed that first British Grand Prix.

If you would like to attend this event and take part in some or all of the activities with your Grand Prix car, or pre-War vehicle, please complete the attached application form and return it as soon as possible. The special activities are subject to availability and priority for them will be given to vehicles with Grand Prix and Brooklands history, but we emphasise that all pre-war vehicles are welcome. We would be very pleased if drivers and their guests dressed in period costume to add to the atmosphere of the event.

Everyone bringing a Grand Prix car will receive complimentary tickets for the driver and Team Members, while those bringing in cars with genuine Brooklands provenance, will receive complimentary tickets for the driver and one guest. Drivers of pre-War vehicles will receive a discount on tickets if they pre-book for this event. Please note that pre-War cars turning up on the day will be subject to our usual admission charges at the gate and it is unlikely that there will be any availability of activities for un-booked vehicles. We look forward to hearing from you, and seeing you at Brooklands in August 2016

MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher - a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed.

"With an ever-growing love of music and an appreciation of great songwriters, and by surrounding himself with the very best, Zac Pajak has become a master of the craft himself. LIVE MUSIC WITH ZAC PAJAK at Red Bar Weybridge Surrey
His songs range from the rousing anthemic ‘She Said’ from his latest EP, to the heartfelt and ‘beautifully bare-boned’ love songs such as the earlier ‘Sunshine’. Zac’s repertoire never fails to delight, entertain and touch his audience. ‘Southern Comfort’ tells his story of moving back home after living up North with truth, beauty and lyrical skill.
Zac spends his winters in the Alps – working as an internationally qualified ski instructor by day, and gigging on the après-ski circuit in the bars of Verbier in the evenings, as part of a duo ‘The Whiskey Thieves’. In the summer he can be found back in the UK, song-writing and gigging around South London. In 2014 he embarked on a new venture as front man with the super-talented band ‘Atlas’. Their debut EP was released in January 2015, and the band have a string of gigs planned for the summer ahead. "

It is fifty years since Chertsey Museum first opened its doors in 1965.
Chertsey Museum Surrey Exhibition - Fashion - Runnymede To celebrate this important anniversary, our current fashion display features fashionable women’s wear dating from the 1960s to the present days selected from the Olive Matthews Collection.
< Evening gown of purple and green shot silk by Jean-Louis Scherrer, mid 1980s. Photograph by John Chase
The display takes visitors on a journey from the tight waists and full skirts of the early 1960s right through to the darkly imaginative designs of Alexander McQueen in the 2000s.
On the way it is possible to explore the futuristic styles of the mid-‘60s, the flowing skirts of the hippie era and power dressing from the 1980s.

Assiduous collecting of key designers’ work from the second half of the 20th century has been undertaken in recent years by the Olive Matthews Collection trustees.
This means we have been able to include important pieces by André Courrèges, Thierry Mugler, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Ossie Clark and Issey Miyake to name but a few.

"Had a lovely afternoon walk with the girls at Painshill Park! Thanks for the tip off" - Laura Hollinger

Painshill Park Cobham Surrey - local photos on all about Weybridge Surrey
Take a beautiful walk around Painshill.

Painshill Park "One of the finest 18th century landscape parks in Europe.."
The Gothic Temple is a 'folly' in the great tradition of English landscape gardens.
It is just one of several in the park, but arguably the most idyllically placed.

Weybridge Library - Fun for the children
Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, aged under 5, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It is fun, interactive and noisy!
Nursery rhymes are great for language development - they have a lot of rhythm which catch baby’s attention, and repetition, which is good for speech development. It is also a nice way of introducing babies and toddlers to their local library!
Rhymetimes start with finger rhymes and action songs. Percussion instruments accompany the rhythmic songs and the sessions end with some closing songs.
Tickets are free and must be booked in person by coming into the library between Sunday and Wednesday for the Thursday Rhymetimes.
For Saturday Rhyme sessions, you can book your place by coming into the library in person any time from the Saturday before. We look forward to seeing you there.
