| The Weybridge Male Voice Choir is holding
its Spring Concert on 15 May at the Catholic
Church of Christ Price of Peace in Portmore
Way, Weybridge starting at 8.00 pm under the
baton of Musical Director Christine Best and
accompanied by pianist Mike Wood. |
| Appearing with the Choir will be guests
from the Yehudi Menuhin School, including
Headmaster Nicholas Chisholm and some talented
school pupils. Nicolas, who has been
Headmaster of the school for the past 22
years, is retiring at the end of the summer
term. |
| He has been a regular member of the
audience at Weybridge Male Voice Choir
Concerts but this will be the first time he
has performed with them. He is an accomplished
professional tenor and will be singing a
selection of English folk songs arranged by
Benjamin Britten. |
| The association with the Yehudi Menuhin
School goes back some 30 years, at which time
the School’s Director of Music, Malcolm
Singer, was musical director of the Weybridge
Choir and is currently the Choir’s President.

| A retiring collection will be made
in support of the
Sam Beare Hospice in
Weybridge, which is just a stones
throw away from the choir’s rehearsal
venue at St James Parish Centre. |

| The Weybridge Choir is about 60 strong,
performing at around 20 concerts each year and
helping to raise many thousands of pounds for
national and local charities. In October last
year it took part in the Festival of Brass and
Voices at the Albert Hall with 1500 singers
from 66 other choirs which raised £150,000 for
Cancer Research UK. |

| Its latest charity concert was on 24 April
when it performed with the Treble Clef Ladies
Choir in the foyer between Tesco and Marks and
Spencer at Brooklands Shopping Centre in
support of the
Save The Children charity. |
