|
Following hugely successful visits in May
2006 and last December, Musica Primavera,
the vocal chamber-duet specialists, return
on Saturday 28 November at 8pm to the
Riverhouse Arts Centre to provide another
evening of aural enchantment, of delights,
vocal and instrumental, seasonal and
traditional, much-loved as well as
undiscovered, to suit every taste. On this
occasion they will be joined by
guest-violinist, Martin Smith, whose solo
performances as well as obbligato playing in
original arrangements for violin and viola
will further embellish the ensemble’s
existing repertoire. |
|
The programme is wide ranging from the sheer
exuberance of the opening Handel duets, and
the elegiac lyricism of Cecilia McDowall’s
recently composed “Strange violin, are you
following me?”, to the rural nostalgia of
Elizabeth’s interpretation of Roger
Quilter’s “Pastoral Songs”, the emotional
power of Michael and Martin’s rendition of
Frank Bridge’s “Three Songs”, and, by turns,
the joy, tenderness and laughter of the
seasonal arrangements and other pieces that
form the backdrop to this recital. An
evening of refinement and fun! Something,
indeed, to suit every taste! |
|
Drinks and light refreshments will be
available from the bar. |
