| What is the aim of Toddlehop? |
| Our aim
is to provide a safe and stimulating environment in
which children can develop a lasting appreciation and
understanding of the varied, exciting world of music… |
| |
| Who can come? |
| Children are very welcome from the age
of 2 up to school age. Their level of participation
will clearly vary depending on their age, development
rate and confidence; if they’re showing potential to
become the next Madonna / George Michael then they
should find the sessions sufficiently challenging and stimulating! |
 |
| Great fun for Toddlers |
|
| However, even if they just want to watch
and toddle along to the music, they will still be
excited by the sights and sounds of a Toddlehop
workshop… |
| We politely request that parents are
present in the room where the sessions are taking
place, especially if you have younger children, although
we will let you escape to grab a coffee! |
| |
| Do you
have to sign up for a specific number of sessions? |
No, Toddlehop is a weekly drop-in activity with no
obligation to attend every session.
|
| |
| What will happen
during the sessions? |
| ● |
There will be stories that are sung and
played live. |
| ● |
Nursery-rhyme sing-alongs will be
accompanied by the children themselves with various percussion instruments
(parents - bring your ear-plugs!). |
| ● |
Older children will learn to identify
different styles of music through well known classical, jazz and modern pieces which
will always contain an element of live performance. |
| ● |
They will also experiment with basic dance
steps and styles. The younger ones will simply enjoy the
stimulation of listening and toddling along! |
| ● |
Balloon modelling, tricks, jokes and puppet
shows will entertain both children and parents! |
|
| |
| Who will
run the sessions? |
 |
| Sam with his children |
|
| All sessions will be run by Sam
Wedgwood, a very experienced musician and music
teacher. He was previously a member of internationally
renowned jazz singer and pianist Jamie Cullum’s band; |
| Jamie describes Sam as “a true multi-talent. Not only a
gifted singer and instrumentalist (guitar, piano,
trumpet....you name it) but also a fantastic songwriter
with a uniquely soulful voice. I'm actually quite
jealous.” |
| Sam is the father of two pre-school
daughters, so is also experienced in performing to the
Toddlehop age-group! |
| He is fully CRB checked. |
