Elliott Frisby - Acoustic singer songwriter
"Writes uplifting melodies, so his repertoire belies an understanding of a deeper sense of feeling; one that reaches out and connects with listeners on subjects and emotions that resonate with the heart."
In a modern world engorged with televised talent shows and dangling carrots of fame, it is this backbone of determination and drive that fuses an old school attitude with the most contemporary of songwriting talents.
A lyricist whose words capture truth, and a melody writer with can’t-stop-singing-along hooks,
Elliott is a musician who writes that joyous string of songs that gets better every time you listen.
Elliott Frisby will be playing on Thursday 3rd March
Robbie Lee

Covering a vast range of musical genres, Robbie's classic rock songbook features songs from The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Santana, ZZ Top, Queen, Van Morrison, Status Quo and everything else in between.

Healthy Walks are a round the year programme of walks that provide an enjoyable way to improve your health and fitness. Healthy Walks in Weybridge, Hersham, Cobham, Esher & many other areas of Elmbridge
Participants are encouraged to walk briskly. For health benefits you should breath more deeply and feel warmer when you walk
Free walks of varying distance and pace lasting from 10 minutes to 3 hours take place around the Borough regularly.
Please choose the grading and length of time your selected walk takes carefully and according to your ability. If you are a novice walker please choose MOD 1 or less.
Although we do attempt to keep to the timing, a degree of flexibility is needed. Stops for coffee are usually half and hour. All ages can participate in Healthy Walks, but a parent or carer must supervise walkers under 14.
No dogs unless stated otherwise, except assistance dogs; they must be kept on a lead.
Be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear, also bring some drinking water.

Enjoy your local scenery, get to know your neighbourhood, make friends and get active!
Did you know that many of our walks are on bus routes? Bus timetables are available from libraries or post offices.

In 1981 Painshill Trust was set up to restore a beautiful yet forgotten 18th century landscape originally created by the Hon Charles Hamilton between 1738 and 1773.
Painshill Park Cobham Elmbridge Surrey - Royston Pike Lecture Series
As the Trust celebrates its 35 Anniversary, the years of hard work and determination have seen Painshill restored and the crystal Grotto is once again a sparkling centrepiece within the landscape garden and the long lake vistas which Hamilton so treasured.
In 2014 Painshill Park at Cobham won the category of restoration of a Georgian Garden and Landscape at the Georgian Group Architectural Awards.
The talk will start at 7.30pm. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available at the venue from 7pm.
This talk is part of the 2015/2016 Royston Pike Lecture series.

MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher - a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed.

Tony Carling & The Usual Suspects   Tony Carling & The Usual Suspects
The Usual Suspects are an experienced rock pop outfit playing classic covers from the likes of Tom Petty, Fleetwood mac, Steely Dan, Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Tony's original songs that have instant hook and appeal, with a touch of rock, pop, blues and country.
All band members have gigged and recorded in many bands over the years and have formed this band to entertain and share the music.

Event Format: At open mic nights we invite anyone to sing or play in any genre. Bar and free entry. The format is usually: live band/headline act plays first set, followed by open mic session (approx. an hour) finishing with live band/act second set.
Open Mic Session: if you would like to play up to three numbers (PA and a couple of amps provided) get in touch or just turn up on the night, whether you are a solo, a duo or a band. And don’t worry about whether you are ‘good enough’. We have enjoyed some high quality performances, but it’s also a welcoming place for those having a go for the first time or getting back into it after a long gap. All musical styles are welcome as well.
Equipment: PA, two mics and stands, guitar and bass amp provided for open mic session - if you need anything else you will need to bring it and do any setting up required as early as possible.
Headline Act Opportunities: If you are interested in being the headline band/act, do get in touch. No requirement to share equipment and PA will be provided.

It is fifty years since Chertsey Museum first opened its doors in 1965.
Chertsey Museum Surrey Exhibition - Fashion - Runnymede To celebrate this important anniversary, our current fashion display features fashionable women’s wear dating from the 1960s to the present days selected from the Olive Matthews Collection.
< Evening gown of purple and green shot silk by Jean-Louis Scherrer, mid 1980s. Photograph by John Chase
The display takes visitors on a journey from the tight waists and full skirts of the early 1960s right through to the darkly imaginative designs of Alexander McQueen in the 2000s.
On the way it is possible to explore the futuristic styles of the mid-‘60s, the flowing skirts of the hippie era and power dressing from the 1980s.

Assiduous collecting of key designers’ work from the second half of the 20th century has been undertaken in recent years by the Olive Matthews Collection trustees.
This means we have been able to include important pieces by André Courrèges, Thierry Mugler, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Ossie Clark and Issey Miyake to name but a few.

On Broadway: The Life and Adventures of Damon Runyon

Royston Pike Lecture Presented by Pete Allen

Although best known for writing the stories that are the source of the classic musical 'Guys and Dolls', Damon Runyon's unique style and use of language, has entered our everyday speech.
If your boss give you the 'heave-ho'? Your favourite TV stars have charm 'in spades'? Or your football club, 'brought in the dream team'? Then they did so talking 'Runyonese'.
This is the story of the man who turned gambling, gangsters, guys and dolls into the stuff of legend...and is the responsible for Pudsy the Bear!
Royston Pike Lecture Presented by Pete Allen
The talk will start at 7.30pm. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available at the venue from 7pm.
This talk is part of the 2015/2016 Royston Pike Lecture series.

Introduce your baby to songs, rhymes
and books at your library!
Weybridge Library - Fun for the children
Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, aged under 5, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It is fun, interactive and noisy!
Nursery rhymes are great for language development - they have a lot of rhythm which catch baby’s attention, and repetition, which is good for speech development. It is also a nice way of introducing babies and toddlers to their local library!
Rhymetimes start with finger rhymes and action songs. Percussion instruments accompany the rhythmic songs and the sessions end with some closing songs.
Tickets are free and must be booked in person by coming into the library between Sunday and Wednesday for the Thursday Rhymetimes.
For Saturday Rhyme sessions, you can book your place by coming into the library in person any time from the Saturday before. We look forward to seeing you there.
