It is fifty years since Chertsey Museum first opened its doors in 1965.
Chertsey Museum Surrey Exhibition - Fashion - Runnymede To celebrate this important anniversary, our current fashion display features fashionable women’s wear dating from the 1960s to the present days selected from the Olive Matthews Collection.
< Evening gown of purple and green shot silk by Jean-Louis Scherrer, mid 1980s. Photograph by John Chase
The display takes visitors on a journey from the tight waists and full skirts of the early 1960s right through to the darkly imaginative designs of Alexander McQueen in the 2000s.
On the way it is possible to explore the futuristic styles of the mid-‘60s, the flowing skirts of the hippie era and power dressing from the 1980s.

Assiduous collecting of key designers’ work from the second half of the 20th century has been undertaken in recent years by the Olive Matthews Collection trustees.
This means we have been able to include important pieces by André Courrèges, Thierry Mugler, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Ossie Clark and Issey Miyake to name but a few.

"With an ever-growing love of music and an appreciation of great songwriters, and by surrounding himself with the very best, Zac Pajak has become a master of the craft himself. LIVE MUSIC WITH ZAC PAJAK at Red Bar Weybridge Surrey
His songs range from the rousing anthemic ‘She Said’ from his latest EP, to the heartfelt and ‘beautifully bare-boned’ love songs such as the earlier ‘Sunshine’. Zac’s repertoire never fails to delight, entertain and touch his audience. ‘Southern Comfort’ tells his story of moving back home after living up North with truth, beauty and lyrical skill.
Zac spends his winters in the Alps – working as an internationally qualified ski instructor by day, and gigging on the après-ski circuit in the bars of Verbier in the evenings, as part of a duo ‘The Whiskey Thieves’. In the summer he can be found back in the UK, song-writing and gigging around South London. In 2014 he embarked on a new venture as front man with the super-talented band ‘Atlas’. Their debut EP was released in January 2015, and the band have a string of gigs planned for the summer ahead. "

MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher - a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed.

Tony Carling & The Usual Suspects   Tony Carling & The Usual Suspects
The Usual Suspects are an experienced rock pop outfit playing classic covers from the likes of Tom Petty, Fleetwood mac, Steely Dan, Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Tony's original songs that have instant hook and appeal, with a touch of rock, pop, blues and country.
All band members have gigged and recorded in many bands over the years and have formed this band to entertain and share the music.

Event Format: At open mic nights we invite anyone to sing or play in any genre. Bar and free entry. The format is usually: live band/headline act plays first set, followed by open mic session (approx. an hour) finishing with live band/act second set.
Open Mic Session: if you would like to play up to three numbers (PA and a couple of amps provided) get in touch or just turn up on the night, whether you are a solo, a duo or a band. And don’t worry about whether you are ‘good enough’. We have enjoyed some high quality performances, but it’s also a welcoming place for those having a go for the first time or getting back into it after a long gap. All musical styles are welcome as well.
Equipment: PA, two mics and stands, guitar and bass amp provided for open mic session - if you need anything else you will need to bring it and do any setting up required as early as possible.
Headline Act Opportunities: If you are interested in being the headline band/act, do get in touch. No requirement to share equipment and PA will be provided.

Weybridge Library - Fun for the children
Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, aged under 5, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It is fun, interactive and noisy!
Nursery rhymes are great for language development - they have a lot of rhythm which catch baby’s attention, and repetition, which is good for speech development. It is also a nice way of introducing babies and toddlers to their local library!
Rhymetimes start with finger rhymes and action songs. Percussion instruments accompany the rhythmic songs and the sessions end with some closing songs.
Tickets are free and must be booked in person by coming into the library between Sunday and Wednesday for the Thursday Rhymetimes.
For Saturday Rhyme sessions, you can book your place by coming into the library in person any time from the Saturday before. We look forward to seeing you there.
