Event to help raise
funds for the Royal Surrey County Hospital’s
Maternity Ward so that they can buy a baby
resuscitation unit |

| An exciting opportunity
to race at dusk/night across the woodlands and raise
money for The Royal Surrey Appeal. A 6km run or 2km
walk amongst the wiggly woos, ghostly creatures and
forest frighteners of Chantries Woodlands. Don't
forget your head torch! |
|
 |
| We're asking everyone
who takes part to raise just £50 each to help us
reach our £12,000 target. This will enable us to buy
a baby resuscitation unit. Sometimes new born babies
need extra help to warm up after birth. This warming
system uniformly distributes heat to the baby and
means that babies can stay in our transitional care
unit with their mothers, rather than transferring
them unnecessarily to the special care baby unit. |
| Full fancy dress will be encouraged to get into
the Halloween spirit, for both runners and walkers.
Trick or Treating and all sorts of fun for the kids
on the 2km walk including glow sticks and spooks in
the wood. |
| Come along with the family (pram
friendly) or race solo through the Chantries
woodlands. |

the year programme of walks that provide an
enjoyable way to improve your health and fitness. |

Participants are encouraged to walk briskly. For
health benefits you should breath more deeply and
feel warmer when you walk |

Please choose the grading and length
of time your selected walk takes carefully and according to
your ability. If you are a novice walker please choose MOD 1
or less. |
|
Although we do attempt to keep to the timing, a degree of
flexibility is needed. Stops for coffee are usually half and
hour. All ages can participate in Healthy Walks, but a
parent or carer must supervise walkers under 14. |
No dogs unless stated otherwise
except assistance dogs; they must be kept on a lead.
Be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear,
also bring some drinking water. |

Concert Summary |
|
Weybridge Male Voice Choir celebrates its 90th Anniversary
with a concert compered by Ed ('Stewpot') Stewart, and
featuring the young mezzo soprano Kathryn McAdam. Retiring
collection will be for Sam Beare Hospice |
|
Each decade from 1921 will be celebrated in song, and we are
delighted that Ed Stewart will be the compere. Kathryn
McAdam wowed the choir and audience when she was guest
soloist in Sheffield Cathedral in 2010 when Weybridge Male
Voice Choir helped the Worrall Male Voice Choir celebrate
their 40th Anniversary. |

Sam Beare Hospice |
|
Over the last few years The Sam Beare Hospice has struggled
to raise an ever increasing annual budget, which is now
approaching £2m per annum. |
|
Last year the unit had to close the day care unit
which played an extremely important part in the care and
well being of terminally ill patients and their families,
giving them respite and the much needed support of the
highly trained and caring professional staff. |
|
Through many fund raising events, donations and money raised
in the local Sam Beare Hospice shops the day care service
has been reinstated for one day each week. This is a step in
the right direction but not nearly enough. |
|
