Healthy Walks are a round the year programme of walks that provide an enjoyable way to improve your health and fitness. Healthy Walks in Weybridge, Hersham, Cobham, Esher & many other areas of Elmbridge
Participants are encouraged to walk briskly. For health benefits you should breath more deeply and feel warmer when you walk
Free walks of varying distance and pace lasting from 10 minutes to 3 hours take place around the Borough regularly.
Please choose the grading and length of time your selected walk takes carefully and according to your ability. If you are a novice walker please choose MOD 1 or less.
Although we do attempt to keep to the timing, a degree of flexibility is needed. Stops for coffee are usually half and hour. All ages can participate in Healthy Walks, but a parent or carer must supervise walkers under 14.
No dogs unless stated otherwise, except assistance dogs; they must be kept on a lead.
Be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear, also bring some drinking water.

Enjoy your local scenery, get to know your neighbourhood, make friends and get active!
Did you know that many of our walks are on bus routes? Bus timetables are available from libraries or post offices.

She 'greatly marvelled the same, her young and tender age considered': The early life and education of Mary I
The title's quote comes from a letter sent in 1520 by the Royal Council in England to Henry VIII while he was at The Field of Cloth of Gold concerning perhaps one of the most divisive figures in British History, Henry's daughter Mary.

Dr. Richardson, Director of Research at St Mary's University gives a fascinating insight on the early life and preparation of Mary as the daughter and heir of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon.

About Elmbridge Youth Theatre (EYT)
Based in Elmbridge in Surrey, EYT was set up to bridge the gap between school and adult drama, specifically aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 25. Elmbridge Youth Theatre
The group was formed in September 1997 with Richard Davis as Director and Carole Andrew as Deputy Director and Choreographer - both had long been responsible for the shows at Rydens School in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. At the same time, Esher Youth Theatre, which had been running very successfully for many years, was in danger of closing, so it was incorporated in the new Elmbridge Youth Theatre and its remaining members joined us.
Richard, now no longer with us has left a legacy any West End Director would be proud of.
The main focus of EYT is to cater for the leisure time needs of local young people, as well as to encourage and foster an interest in theatre and develop the skills involved in the various Theatre Arts.
Two major productions are usually presented each year at the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse in Walton - normally a musical in the winter and either a musical or straight play in the summer. This gives everyone a chance to be involved, and to use whatever performance skills they have - whether it's acting, singing or dancing or all three!
EYT has its meetings/rehearsals on Sundays from 6.30pm to 9pm at St James' Church Parish Centre and on Thursdays from 7.30 pm to 10pm at Molesey Youth Centre.
There is a subsription fee payable per year to cover performers insurance. This fee is currently £30.

MUSIC on the GREEN is based at Christ Church Esher directly opposite and overlooking Esher Green. Its aims are to promote a wide variety of excellent music, to present music in a fresh and engaging way, and to encourage audiences from Esher and beyond.
Our concerts take place in Christ Church at the heart of Esher - a church which boasts an outstanding pipe organ, fine grand piano acquired in 2012 with a very generous loan, and good acoustics which all contribute to making our music so enjoyable.
MUSIC on the GREEN is about making music which is accessible to, and enjoyable by, as many people as possible without it being stuffy or cheapened. This is the reason for the MUSIC on the GREEN ‘brand’ – to give the music an identity of its own.
Music is about people, emotions, history… We blend all these ingredients and seek to present our music in interesting and rewarding ways, within its own context so that it can be widely appreciated and enjoyed.

Fostering Event at The Peacocks Centre, Commercial Way, Woking Surrey
Fostering
We need people who care about children to become foster carers and help us change a child's or young person's life for the better by offering the support, care and encouragement they need in their young lives.
Why we need foster carers
You may be under the impression that because Surrey is considered to be an affluent county, that there is a waiting list to foster children or that there are few children in need of foster families. That is not the case, in fact the reverse is true. Fostering - Weybridge Information event by Surrey County Council
There are more than 800 children in care in Surrey, and about 80% are in Council foster care.
We know that children and young people's outcomes are better if they are placed in foster care close to their home, school and friends.

Event Format: At open mic nights we invite anyone to sing or play in any genre. Bar and free entry. The format is usually: live band/headline act plays first set, followed by open mic session (approx. an hour) finishing with live band/act second set.
Open Mic Session: if you would like to play up to three numbers (PA and a couple of amps provided) get in touch or just turn up on the night, whether you are a solo, a duo or a band. And don’t worry about whether you are ‘good enough’. We have enjoyed some high quality performances, but it’s also a welcoming place for those having a go for the first time or getting back into it after a long gap. All musical styles are welcome as well.
Equipment: PA, two mics and stands, guitar and bass amp provided for open mic session - if you need anything else you will need to bring it and do any setting up required as early as possible.
Headline Act Opportunities: If you are interested in being the headline band/act, do get in touch. No requirement to share equipment and PA will be provided.

It is fifty years since Chertsey Museum first opened its doors in 1965.
Chertsey Museum Surrey Exhibition - Fashion - Runnymede To celebrate this important anniversary, our current fashion display features fashionable women’s wear dating from the 1960s to the present days selected from the Olive Matthews Collection.
< Evening gown of purple and green shot silk by Jean-Louis Scherrer, mid 1980s. Photograph by John Chase
The display takes visitors on a journey from the tight waists and full skirts of the early 1960s right through to the darkly imaginative designs of Alexander McQueen in the 2000s.
On the way it is possible to explore the futuristic styles of the mid-‘60s, the flowing skirts of the hippie era and power dressing from the 1980s.

Assiduous collecting of key designers’ work from the second half of the 20th century has been undertaken in recent years by the Olive Matthews Collection trustees.
This means we have been able to include important pieces by André Courrèges, Thierry Mugler, Jean-Louis Scherrer, Ossie Clark and Issey Miyake to name but a few.

Fostering talk in Esher at High School Surrey

Weybridge Library - Fun for the children
Library rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, aged under 5, along with their parents and carers. The events are based entirely on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and percussion music. It is fun, interactive and noisy!
Nursery rhymes are great for language development - they have a lot of rhythm which catch baby’s attention, and repetition, which is good for speech development. It is also a nice way of introducing babies and toddlers to their local library!
Rhymetimes start with finger rhymes and action songs. Percussion instruments accompany the rhythmic songs and the sessions end with some closing songs.
Tickets are free and must be booked in person by coming into the library between Sunday and Wednesday for the Thursday Rhymetimes.
For Saturday Rhyme sessions, you can book your place by coming into the library in person any time from the Saturday before. We look forward to seeing you there.

Music On The Green at Christ Church Esher Surrey

Come when you can: the programmes are designed to allow you to arrive or leave at any time!
