In the UK, 16 babies a day are stillborn or die in
the first 4 weeks of life.
SANDS is working to support bereaved parents, and to press for
improvements in care during pregnancy and when a baby has died
The death of a baby is a devastating
experience. The effects of grief can be overwhelming and
parents, their families and friends can be left feeling
dazed, disorientated, isolated and exhausted.

At Sands there are
people who understand what it's like because many of us have
been through this experience ourselves, and we are here to
help offer support and information when you need it.
If you have been affected by the stillbirth or death of a baby in
the early weeks of life and would like to talk to someone about your
experience please ring our helpline. You may be a parent, family member,
friend or health or social care professional supporting bereaved parents.
