Weybridge NHS Health Services News Following Fire At Community Hospital & Health Centre

Weybridge Walk In Centre Has Closed Due To The Fire In 2017

Public information meetings on Tuesday 17 October 2017 to update local residents following the fire at Weybridge Community Hospital

Change Of Venue For The Weybridge Hospital Meetings

Weybridge residents have shown such strong interest in what is happening at the Weybridge Hospital site that the venue for the two public meetings on Tuesday has been changed to accommodate more attendees.

Yesterday Cllr Andrew Davis got things moving to find more space and, happily, Brian Prothero was able to offer St James’ church as a venue for this important public meeting. The church has a capacity of over 350, so no-one should be left out.

In case you have not yet done so, there is still time to complete our short Weybridge Hospital replacement Survey which asks what services you have used, which you would like to keep and what other services you would like to see on the site.

We are committed to seeing that Weybridge has the best possible health and care services on the Hospital site.

These meetings were originally planned to be held at The Weybridge Centre for the Community, See below for the original meeting notification. The times are the same as shown below.

Weybridge resident and Liberal Democrat

Weybridge Fire Update 6 October 2017
Two public information meetings will be held on Tuesday 17 October to update local residents following the fire at Weybridge Community Hospital in July. There will be an update on progress so far in relation to the relocation of the two GP practices, the pharmacy and some community services back to the Weybridge Hospital site in temporary accommodation. There will also be an update on plans to engage residents on the future shape/design of the health and care facility in Weybridge.

These meetings were to be held at The Weybridge Centre for the Community, but have now been switched to St James’ Parish Church – see notice above.

Times: Meetings at at 2pm – 3.30pm and 7.30pm – 9pm.

Petition For CCG To Rebuild Or Replace Weybridge Walk In Centre, Following The Fire Earlier This Year

The Online Petition Has Almost 2,900 Signatures On 13th Ocober 2017

The following wording is from the petition page

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

The Weybridge Walk in Centre was at the heart of Weybridge and needs to be replaced. The CCG are intending that Weybridge residents in need of emergency care will have to travel to St Peters or Woking. Both alternatives are overstretched at the moment. This is assuming that people can get to either location as this is very hard for those who require to use public transport.

BRING BACK THE CENTRE IT IS NEEDED, WE NEED IT.

Clinical Services Returning To Weybridge Hospital Site After Devastating Fire – Update From CHS Surrey

Weybridge Fire Update 6 October 2017
People in Weybridge will see local health services move back to their original site from mid-November, the NHS confirmed today.

The Rowan Tree and Church Street GP practices, which were temporarily relocated following the fire on 12 July 2017, will move back to the site in a series of temporary buildings as part of an interim solution arranged by site owner NHS Property Services.

The facility will comprise at least 20 interlinked temporary buildings housing the GP practices, treatment rooms and Lloyds Pharmacy and all will be specially fitted out to meet CQC standards for healthcare provision.

As well as the GP practices and the pharmacy, the full range of treatment room services provided by CSH Surrey will be returning:

– Wound Care Clinics
– Leg Ulcer Clinics
– Phlebotomy Clinics
– ECGs and Injections
– Removal of Clips and Stitches.

At least 30 parking spaces will be available on site for patients and visitors.

It is envisaged this interim solution will be in place for at least three years while the complex process of establishing permanent arrangements is undertaken, although firm timescales cannot yet be confirmed. Elements of the process include North West Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group consulting with the local community, planning permission, building design and construction.

Martin Steele, Chief Operating Officer for NHS Property Services, said: “These interim measures will allow healthcare provision to return to the site while we support North West Surrey CCG in developing a permanent solution. We’d like to thank our healthcare partners and local residents for their understanding during this process.”

Installation work is due to take two weeks, beginning on 23 October with most of the fit-out project being carried out before the buildings arrive at site, to minimise disruption.

Charlotte Canniff, Clinical Chair at North West Surrey CCG added:

“We would like to thank all our partners who have worked hard to ensure the continuity of health services for the local Weybridge population, and in particular to NHS Property Services for making accommodation available so quickly. We would also like to thank the local population for their patience and understanding during this time.”

A date for services to restart at the site will be confirmed in coming weeks.

Sarah Tomkins, Associate Director of Adults Services at CSH Surrey for the North West Surrey area, said: “We are very pleased to be relocating the treatment room services back to Weybridge and bringing them closer to the 200-250 people who use them every week. Since the fire in July we have treated nearly 3,000 patients at our temporary base at Walton Community Hospital, and would like to thank them for their patience and support during this time. We are looking forward to delivering our services back on the Weybridge hospital site, where we will continue to serve around 25,000 local people who are registered with the two GP practices.”

The remains of the fire-damaged former health centre have now been removed from the site by specialist contractors. 24-hour security remains at the site.

Fire Bulletin Posted on Rowan Tree GP Practice website 17/07/17

Information for Patients Following Weybridge NHS Health Centre Fire

Health partners are working closely together to ensure continuity of care for patients affected by the current closure of Weybridge Hospital which includes GP services, the Walk-in Centre, as well as some other services such as X-ray and physiotherapy.

The CCG is supporting the two GP practices affected, Church Street and Rowan Tree, to divert their telephone lines to a temporary number for urgent calls. We would urge patients to use alternative services wherever appropriate, such as NHS 111, speaking to your local pharmacist or attending the Walk-in Centres at Woking or Ashford. Please do not attend A and E unless absolutely necessary as services are likely to be very busy today as are alternative Walk-in centres.

As the day progresses we will call patients who have booked GP appointments either today or in the very near future to advise on future arrangements. In the meantime, we would ask patients to bear with us at this time and only call the practice if absolutely necessary. As a temporary measure the practices will be seeing urgent patients only at alternative premises and we will let patients know where these are when we call.

Similarly for other patients with booked appointments that should have taken place today at Weybridge Hospital (for example physiotherapy), urgent appointments are being prioritised and again we will be contacting patients directly and re-arranging these at alternative premises.

In the meantime, we would like to thank all our partners, in health, social care, the local authority and the emergency services for their collective support on behalf of local residents and patients.

Ashford & St Peter's Hospital

Weybridge residents have been shocked by the sad news that Weybridge Hospital, the NHS Walk-In Centre and the two GP Surgeries in the Health Centre have been destroyed by a massive fire.

Local residents were evacuated as a massive blaze lit the skies of Weybridge, due to a fire at the Health Cente in Church Street. There have been reports of loud explosions as the fire took hold, just after midnight (morning of July 12th).

We have been informed that nobody has been hurt, but there is concern about the massive disruption and loss of vital health services. The town centre has been closed between Heath Road and Baker Street as Emergency Services attend to the fire, which was still bellowing smoke mid-morning.

Residents have been taking refuge at St James’ Parish Church, where locals have been rallying to help those displaced. There has been a major impact on traffic due to the road closure and St Charles Borromeo School has been closed for the day.

Surrey Police have asked people to avoid the area around Church Street.

At its peak, the fire was attended by 8 pumps from the fire brigade, using 2 aerial ladder platforms.

Surrey Search & Rescue also attended to fly drones in support of the Fire & Rescue teams.
