Band Aid 20 - Charity Single

20 years ago the original Band Aid Single of " Do They Know It's Christmas was released.

It was recorded in one day with the top artists of the early 80's, in response to the terrible suffering and deaths from famine in Africa.

It surprised everybody when it was such a massive success, selling millions of copies and becoming the fastest selling single ever.

Now 20 years on, many of the top artists of 2004 have got together to record a new version of " Do They Know It's Christmas" to help the ongoing charity effort. To buy the record and help fight famine in Africa, use the links below.

Artists involved in Band Aid 20 include U2's Bono, Will Young, Jamelia, Joss Stone,Daniel Bedingfield, Busted, Katie Melua, Beverley Knight, Rachel Stevens, Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Dido, Thom Yorke, Dizzee Rascal, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, Ms Dynamite, members of Blur and many more.

Midge Ure, who helped organise the original record with Geldof, said there was still a need to raise funds and awareness, despite the good that the previous record had done. "Whether it's hunger or Aids or third world debt, it doesn't really matter - it's a continent that needs help and the help still isn't there yet," he said.
